About Charlie Pants
This boy is very special!
Charlie has a lot of love to give the right owner, but is also looking for an owner that will be patient and caring and offer him the love he deserves too.
Charlie hasn’t had a great life so far. He was found wandering the streets, quite under weight , he was not desexed and had a mouth full of rotten teeth. He’s feeling much better now having filled out ( he loves food and is an easy good eater) , he’s had a full dental, his vaccinations and a full health check and he’s now ready to find his forever home.
Charlie has been in care getting ready for his forever home for about 2 months. He was a very scared dog when he came into care and was very uncomfortable being held or restrained in any way and had no idea what kisses and cuddles were. I would say from his behaviours that he was most likely used as a back yard breeding dog where is was likely in amongst other dogs that regularity bullied and attacked him and was given no affection or care.
So whilst Charlie is good around other dogs at the park and beach, ( which he loves) ,when at home he is still on edge just waiting to be bullied. This fear means he has the tendency to growl at other dogs that come close, especially in the evenings and it is obvious that is he nervous and anxious about the possibility of being harmed in some way.
Charlie is so sweet, he loves tummy rubs, Scratches and is now happy to be held sometimes, he’s come an incredibly long way in a very short time, however he is still a bit nervous and he will bear his teeth and get quite bad tempered and growl if he feels threatened, but it is all fear based and whilst he has some way to go to truely be settled and not feel threatened, he is learning to trust well and with lots of love, and understanding he will get there. Charlie has been estimated by the vet to be about 8 years old but he loves to play with you in a puppy ‘mouthy’ like way using his teeth so he is not suited to older owners where skin fragility is a concern.
For this reason Charlie is looking for a very particular home, so please read the criteria carefully before applying.
A SINGLE DOG HOUSEHOLD
UNTESTED WITH CATS, SO NO CATS
YOU MUST HAVE GOOD DOG EXPERIENCE , HE MAY STILL BITE IF SCARED
AN ADULT HOUSEHOLD
OWNERS WITH FRAGILE SKIN ARE NOT SUITABLE DUE TO HIS ‘MOUTHY’ STYLE OF PLAY USING HIS TEETH,
OWNERS THAT HAVE TIME FOR HIM
OWNERS THAT DO NOT WORK AWAY FROM THE HOME FULL TIME
A HOME WITH ACCESS TO A YARD
Charlie loves to just hang out with you, he’ll siddle up and lean his head against your leg and ask for pats and ear rubs and if your really lucky, he’ll give you a lick on your hand which is so beautiful to receive. He has great recall at the park and beach , he does show some lead aggression which is quite common when on lead and further training and trust will resolve this in time. He’s a great sleeper and can be quite chatty when he gets excited, it’s funny to watch. He has a soft coat and longer legs and weighs approx 8kg.
If you feel you can offer this wonderful boy a loving home please email as much information about yourself and your home as possible please.
