About Eddie ~ 4mo Kelpie Puppy(On Trial 5/8/22)
Meet Eddie, a gorgeous almost 4-month-old kelpie. Eddie loves to please and she loves cuddles and belly rubs.
Eddie has progressed well since she came into care a timid and apprehensive young pup who didn’t really want to go outside into the yard. She has become so much more outgoing and is becoming quite a little character.
She is doing great with toilet training but her new family will need to continue this training in her new home.
Since coming into care, Eddie has learned to play with toys, and she is smart with treat puzzles. She has typical puppy excitement so may jump a bit but she is great at ‘sit’ and ‘down’ and her recall is excellent.
Walking on a lead can be a bit daunting for puppies but Eddie is learning that its not as scary as she first though & treats are a great motivation for her to do this well. She will still need patient practice and positive reinforcement.
Eddie is active and agile, and her forever family will be an active one with the time and energy to give her the attention and physical and mental stimulation a busy kelpie needs. The yard will need good fences and gates, at least 1.8 m and with no gaps or places to dig. She will benefit from a home where there is mostly someone at home, as she loves to be close to her humans. However, she is also able to settle well and take time out after she has had busy time.
Eddie has been around stock and chickens and is very calm and sensible. Although she had the company of her siblings until they came into care, she has had limited experience with dogs since and ongoing socialisation will be essential.
Before applying for me I have some questions for you to consider:
-Have you owned a puppy before and know all their habits and limitations.
-Have you considered any extra medical bills that might arise.
-Have you thought about loving and caring for me for the next 12-15 years - maybe even longer ?
-I am a furever dog not just a COVID dog
-I won’t be a small puppy for long and will get up to mischief as I become a teenager. Are you ready for that?
-Have you thought about my extra puppy meals throughout the day?
-Will somebody be home more often than not to keep me socialised?
-I will most likely be able to squeeze through small gaps so do you have solid fencing (5-6 foot) to keep me safe?
-Have you thought about my ongoing physical training and mental stimulation (enrichment games) so that I don't get bored and destructive?
-Will I have access to inside at all times to ensure that I am a part of your family?
I'm watching and learning from you from the moment I open my eyes.
As I am not yet desexed, I am only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens areas as I will need to be returned to our vet for desexing when I am approximately 5/6 months old. Exceptional Sydney based adoptions will only be considered upon approval. I am NOT available for long distance or interstate adoption.
My adoption fee is $700 which includes all up to date vet work. This means it covers my desexing, vaccination, microchipping, flea and worming treatments.
I am located in the Newcastle NSW area and am NOT available for interstate or out of area adoption. If you have any questions, please contact my foster carer Carol here: carol.king@internode.on.net
