About Jacky
Hey I'm Jacky! Nice to meet you.
Thanks for reading about my story so far and maybe you even become part of my story later on. Let's find out!
I'm a three year old boy and have been in the care of Amazing Greys since I was about 17 months old. I have been surrendered by a trainer who had to rescue me from another trainer (can you believe this?) because he was so mean to me. As a result, I would shake and hide in my room in when I came into foster care.
After a few weeks, I started to blossom and enjoy life a bit more. My foster sister Hazel, a friendly Mastiff x girl, showed me how to play, relax on my bed and go for walks.
I also had Psychogenic Polydipsia (I drank too much water) and froze often during my first walks. But with a lot of love and patience from my foster family and Hazel, this is now behind me.
I quickly found a lovely home with a couple and another greyhound girl who adopted me. I lived there happily for almost two years, aced it at clicker training and made sure my humans stayed close by following them everywhere.
But circumstances changed and I found myself back in the care of Amazing Greys.
I am now back in foster care with another greyhound girl and I love love love it. But I need a home to call my own so this is where you come in!
Would you be happy to go on adventures with me? I love a walk but can be a bit overwhelmed and overexcited by everything out there. I love to soak in all the sights, sounds and smells but boy it can be a lot! I have however learned how to stay relatively calm through some engagement games with the other end of the leash (you) and it helps me a lot. And a quiet neighbourhood where we can walk during 'off peak' hours.
Would you let me out for a wee when you get up at night for a toilet break?
Do you have a friendly greyhound girl (or other big breed) at home for me to play and snuggle with?
Can I do zoomies in your backyard please?
I am happy to stay home alone for a reasonable time if you need to go out for shopping for dog treats or something else. Just don't take too long!
So in summary if you have:
• A home in a quieter suburb with quieter streets nearby for walks
• Enough outdoor space for toileting and zoomies (no apartments please)
• Humans who are home more often than not
• Another medium to large canine sibling (pending introductions)
• No cats, small dogs or “pocket pets”
Well, it sounds like you and I could be best friends then!
