About Sammy (Lochy) ~ 18mo Dachshund X(On Trial 30/6/22)
Meet the gorgeous Sammy - pronounced Lochy. This handsome fellow is an 18month old Dachschund X. Are you looking for a mate who will make you breakfast in bed or wash your car? Do you need a partner for the Dakar Rally or challenging the Freediving world record? I am sure you will find someone perfect for the role. But it’s not me.
My legal name is Sammy but I get called Lochy. It’s something to do with having a foster brother with a similar name, and he got here first. Besides Lochy sounds strong and tough. Again, that’s not me, but I like the name anyways.
I am a long boy with cute short legs. I have a serious face and cool eyes – one brown one blue. I have lots of splashes of colours all over me. I am part kelpie but I am more dachshund. I have lovely manners. Irresistible; that’s me!
My foster mum says I am a smoochy hot water bottle. My foster dad says I am a lazy little slug (he likes slugs a lot apparently). My foster brother says I am fun and gets surprised when I can run and jump as good as him.
I am still little. I am only 18 months old or there abouts. Before I came here, I didn’t learn much about “indoors” but I have now learned about the soft warm places indoors like laps, lounges, and beds. I am learning that there are some things you don’t do indoors, but sometimes I forget. I need more practice but I am trying and I am definitely getting much better at holding on until I am outdoors. I still chew stuff, and can destuff a stuffy in no time flat. If you leave your shoes near the toy box, I can’t be held responsible. I love running away with unguarded socks. But I will never ever criticise your cooking. I haven’t found a food I don’t love, yet.
Outdoors has a world of things going on that make me nervous. I am not a tough boy. Sometimes things scare me, and when that happens I would rather run and hide than scare it back. I am a lover not a fighter. Big dogs, helicopters, and loud cars worry me when I go out for a walk. I have a harness and mum gets wound up in my lead because I hide behind her sometimes. When I grow up, I reckon I will be a brave boy.
I shouldn’t be left home alone all day. I might do something I shouldn’t. I can’t be trusted to sleep outside at night because Simon has taught me the fine art of “possum patrol” and that might just annoy your neighbours. I need my people to be calm and fun and loving and patient and generous and have time to play every day. I am happy for walks but not for dog park visits.
I currently live with another doggy housemate. I like having a sibling, especially because he is young and kind of small like me. I feel less nervous when he’s around. If my new home has a brother or sister for me to play with, I’d like to meet them first, just to make sure we can be friends as well as family.
Oh, and I love people of all sizes. Some people siblings might be nice too; although screechy little ones might be a bit scary; maybe half size or bigger would be great. Oh yeah! I forgot to tell you I am pretty sure I don’t like cats. They are new to me, and I am trying to figure them out.
If you think I would fit into your family, please fill out the adoption form and don’t be afraid to ask any questions you have about me. My foster mum will get back to you with the answers.
Bye for now.
