About Duke
Duke the Great Dane is looking for a life with a committed home and ideally with Great Dane or giant breed experience. Yes, he is beautiful and yes, he is still young at only 13 months and therefore comes with destructive tendencies, occasional toileting hiccups and a bucket load of training and controlled socialization required!
We are told Duke has suffered some allergy symptoms before, however currently has none. No investigation was undertaken so we don’t know what he might be allergic to.
Duke requires walking every day and most definitely before being left alone. He’s has shown a little separation anxiety so a working from home/very part time working home is going to be much easier on him. He’s doing famously with his onlead walking these days.
Duke does well with high school age kids. It can take him a while to build his confidence with new people and this is improving. He’s currently too over exuberant to be meeting dogs off lead, instead needs slow controlled meets after he’s had enough help to calm down.
He’s proven to be too much for cats to cope with and whilst he could possibly join another dog, it’s not what we’re looking for. Duke needs one on one time to work on becoming a confident well behaved Great Dane so most importantly we’re looking for the home that can do this for him.
As with any teenage Great Dane, if you put the work in now an amazing companion will emerge to enjoy a full life together for the years to come. It’s already clear what a beautiful loving boy he is, and we really want him to grow into his potential.
Let me know if you know someone who might be the perfect home for Duke.
