About Spike
Spike is a total gentleman. He is sweet, affectionate, intelligent, loving, loves food,
He is VERY food motivated so that will be the way to his heart for sure!
He has good manners, sleeps quietly through the night, is toilet trained and enjoys learning new tricks. Spike likes a quiet walk, but also really likes a comfy spot, a snooze and to be near his people. He is very well behaved in the house and very eager to please.
He doesn’t like to be picked up but will follow you around. He is clear with his signals and communicates well.
Spike is worried about strangers and needs to meet respectful people who let him take the lead, he does look to her person for reassurance and to be told everything is ok.
He doesn’t seem to have a mean bone in his body, he shakes when scared and needs his new humans to help him find confidence and to protect him from the scary people and things! He is improving rapidly and we are hopeful that he will come to see most humans and dogs as possible friends.
Spike would like a human who will spend time walking him, training him and entertaining him. He enjoys car rides (preferably on the humans lap) and snuggling on the couch. He also likes sleeping on the bed if you let him!
Spike is not suited to a home with cats, he does not know his age and thinks chasing cats could be fun!
This handsome little guy will love his new person with all his heart and will be an ideal companion for someone who wants a couch buddy that they can take on walks in quiet places (without off-lead dogs). He will happily walk by friendly dogs but prefers to make friends when he feels safe.

Medical notes
Spike is in overall good health.
Recent dental, vaccinations, parasite control, is microchipped and desexed.
Low grade heart murmur no meds currently required. Stage B1: (this refers to dogs that have heart disease (characterized by a typical mitral regurgitation murmur) but do not have an enlarged heart on radiography/echocardiography or clinical signs of the disease).
Bloods unremarkable. Shows some stiffening that may indicate arthritis but wasn’t noted by vets, would benefit from joint supporting diet and 4cyte supplement.

Please note all our animals are in private foster homes. We do not have a shelter. Therefore all meets are by appointment only.
