About Nuts
INTRODUCING......
We have a special introduction for you all today! This little man has been dubbed with the name Nuts!
He was found wandering the streets of a Lake Macquarie suburb. We quickly notified the local pound in case any persons were looking for him and expressed our concerns with his condition. He remained with us under Duty of Care for monitoring.
Nuts was extremely bloated and malnourished. You could clearly see every part of his spine and hips.
Concerned that he was full of worms we gave him some meds and monitored closely as pups and kittens can fade away and flat line pretty quickly from worm burden.
Over the coming hours Nuts’s carer started to notice something wasn’t quite right with him. He wasn’t able to keep down any food, had liquid diarrhoea and seemed to be overly aggressive for no reason.
After more concerning bowel movements paired with equally huge amounts of vomit we quickly rushed him to the emergency vets where he proceeded to again vomit up several different kinds of whole, undigested nuts, remanence of a paper bag and bits of shells. In a matter of 4 hours he had 4 bouts of diarrhoea and 6 huge vomits for a tiny 7kg pup.
One night with the vet for observation, scans and fluid therapy and a $2000 bill later Nuts started to feel a whole lot better. His aggression decreased as well.
We’re not sure how long Nuts was out on the streets for but it’s clear that he was doing (and eating) whatever he could to survive.
A couple weeks later Nuts is finally starting to act like the young (best guess) kelpie x that he should be!
His favourite things include playing with his foster brother Charlie and foster sister Keller.
Nuts has learnt to play nice with a foster carer resident cats. With the right introduction, we think he could live harmoniously with a dog friendly cat.
Nutsy is one lucky and very smart little boy! He has already learnt to sit for his dinner, sleeps in his crate and waits at the door. Given his history and the fact he was almost starved to death; he has a huge focus on food and is easy to train.
His perfect home will be a strict family who understands that Nuts comes with "baggage" and a massive commitment to training and socialisation will be needed to turn him into the best boy and not a naughty teenager.
He loves a cuddle but please do not sook him up; he clings to his people instantly, especially when food is involved (can you blame him given his hard first few weeks of life).
Nuts would love to find a home with other resident dogs, or people with an active lifestyle.
To help Nuts and his new family; as part of his adoption we are offering to cover the costs of a "Good Manners" 4 week training course with The Good Dog Newcastle to ensure he and his family are equipped with the tools to tackle any of the behaviors that may surface. Valued at $160.00.
At the end this boy is stunning! He so desperately wants to be loved and to please you and with the right family he will flourish!
Is there a "Nuts" sized whole in your family?
