About Poppy
Introducing Poppy – a delightful 1 year old Kelpie x Jack Russell x Whippet girl who loves to love.
Poppy came into foster care not having had much human interaction but she decided pretty quickly that humans are awesome and she loves to be near them as much as possible. Poppy loves to cuddle with her humans and follow them around. She has her best sleeps in her crate overnight and also likes to rest in there during the day sometimes with the door open. Ideally, her new family would continue her crate training to help her continue building confidence, independence, and an understanding of boundaries. Poppy is fully toilet trained.
Poppy has loved learning from, and playing with, her kelpie foster sister and would love a patient, active doggy sibling in her new home that she can play with and learn from. She has been very gentle and respectful of the resident cat and loves to nap with her. Poppy has been in care with kids and adores them but as she is still learning that playing with kids is a bit different to playing with dogs, she is best suited to older kids who are experienced with dogs and mature enough to give her space when needed.
Poppy is learning to walk well on lead and has good recall but further work on recall under distraction would be needed due to her keen interest in getting to know all the dogs in the neighbourhood. She sits and waits beautifully for her dinner and is making progress with all her basic manners.
If you are an experienced dog family looking for a new family member to spoil who will give you all the love in return, and you can continue training Poppy with patience and understanding, take her on lots of adventures and continue building her confidence, please apply.
Adoption details
To apply to adopt a dog from Dogs4Jobs, you must firstly complete our adoptions application form in full at http://dogs4jobs.com.au/adoption-form/.
You can also write out your answers and email them to dogs@dogs4jobs.com.au
*Please note, due to the high volume of applications received, we will not respond to Petrescue chat messages, or enquiries to adopt a dog. You must complete our adoptions form to be considered for the dog or pup, and we will respond to this form via our email.
We will then request to complete a yard check, or for you to send in photos of your yard showing the fencing, space, shelter and any hazards etc, to confirm it is safe and secure, as well as adequate space for a working breed dog.
Following this, we will then put you in touch with the dog/s foster carer/s that you are interested in, to chat further over the phone, about whether the dog is a good fit for your family, and vice versa. We are searching for the perfect match for each dog and their needs. A meet and greet can be arranged if both parties wish to proceed, and we also offer interstate adoption on all of our dogs.
