Marla

Marla is a sweet Border Collie X who is looking for a very special home with a person/s who will be committed to working with her to build her confidence.

Unfortunately, Marla’s experiences in her early life have made her extremely fearful of new people, particularly men. While she has significantly improved while in foster care, she still needs a lot of patience and training so that she can continue that journey.

Once Marla trusts you, she is very affectionate and loves cuddles and to walk by your side. She is dog friendly, toilet trained, travels well in the car and has good obedience skills. She loves walks, playing with toys and has moments of ‘crazy’, but certainly doesn’t have the drive of a working dog and is happy to snooze most of the day away on the couch.

Marla has a talent for jumping high fences, even if purely to say hi to a dog on the other side. This behaviour reduces the more settled she feels in her environment, but it’s not safe to leave her outside when you go out. Marla has also developed a tendency to chew her paws which needs to be closely monitored and managed. Her foster carer is having success with a calming supplement and balanced high quality diet.

Marla is looking for an adult only home that is experienced, and that will be patient and committed to her ongoing training. Ongoing professional assistance and support will be provided to her adopter. Marla would be happy being the only dog in the household or could live with another tolerant dog who doesn’t mind having their face licked a lot!
