About Keeper
Looking for a special home ❣️
Keeper has lived a very Bohemian lifestyle for the first 3 years of his life, travelling around enjoying all the beauty of our country but now it’s time for him to settle down and start learning about living in a house with a family.
Keeper is a bit shy when first meeting new people but once he gets to know you, he’s more than happy to show you what a happy, obedient boy he is. He loves to play ball and go for long meandering walks. He’s an affectionate dog that loves to either sit at your feet or lay across your lap and just gaze at you with his beautiful big brown eyes.
Keeper enjoys hanging out with other dogs but does not want to engage in games of rough and tumble, preferring instead to be on the peripheral of all the fun watching his Day Care buddies playing.
Keeper is only a very petite 15 kg dog. This is due to a condition he has called EPI. This is a genetic condition he was born with that will require a specialised diet for the rest of his life. It’s not a difficult or expensive diet but one that does need to be adhered to.
Keeper must be allowed inside with the family and to sleep inside.
A home with older (teenage) children would be ok.
Needs minimum 5 ft fences.
Not tested with cats.
Medical notes
Keeper has Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency (EPI) and will require a specialised diet and supplements. When treated, this condition doesn’t affect everyday life or life span.
His current feeding routine is:
35,000 enzymes (1 tablet) 20 mins before each meal, he needs enzymes before he consumes any sort of food even treats.
He gets 400g Taste of the Wild salmon flavour kibble that has been soaked in water for minimum 2hrs with 1/4 teaspoon slippery elm sprinkled on top with a bit of canned salmon or fish.
He gets these meals x3 a day.
Have been adding a bit of coconut oil to his feed at the moment too.
Adoption details
We list animals for adoption on Pet Rescue as well as on our own Animals-in-Need Website. We talk with people who contact about an animal to see what their needs and situation are. My emphasis is on getting the right animal for the people and the right people for the animal. If everyone's needs are met things usually work out well.
Please note all our cats are indoor cats only.
If the situation sounds good we arrange a meeting. If all goes well we let people try the animal out for a couple of weeks to ensure that everyone is happy.
We keep records of all adopters, follow up to ensure all is well and undertake to take back any animal if circumstances change.
