About Jack
Jack is a clever, playful, affectionate, standard-sized, doodle boy.
He loves long walks, playing and zoomies in the backyard with his humans. He’s a fast learner, food-motivated and easy to train.
He would do well in a quiet home with a yard, with a person who, ideally, works from home and give him plenty of attention and an interesting life.
He has good foundation training, sleeps quietly through the night, is toilet trained, and enjoys learning new tricks. Jack likes a walk, but also really likes learning new tricks, food based toys and to be near his person.
He enjoys the usual dog things and has the usual dog needs, but you need to know: he sometimes gets worried about humans who aren’t friends yet touching him, if he isn’t asking to be patted and if his subtle signs of discomfort aren’t heeded and he can’t move away he will “raise his voice” with a growl or an air snap, he needs his human to advocate for him, not let strangers touch him and he needs a person who understands this and will follow the BAT protocol of counter-conditioning to help him gain confidence around new people and see that scary can equal chicken, so that soon scary things are no longer scary, but indicators of imminent treats.
He is not suited to a home with kids. He actively distrusts children and teens.
We are seeking a home for Jack with a patient person who will dote on him like he will dote on them.
He is a lovely wiggle bum who has an infectious smile and an enthusiasm for life that is contagious. He will make the human who suits his needs very happy.
