About Kenzie
Every now and then a dog comes along that makes everyone's heart melt. Kenzie, a small red kelpie, is one of those dogs.
Kenzie's had more litters than we care to imagine, so we want - and she absolutely deserves - a very special home in her retirement.
She was born in 2014 and has just weaned her last litter. A very capable mother, she's given everything to her pups, which is why her coat is sparse, though improving, and a good few of her teeth are missing.
After many years of puppy manufacture, she needs a home where she will receive abundant love and affection and is regarded as an integral member of the family. We want her to enjoy the privileges of being an inside-outside dog.
Sweet-tempered, gentle and undemanding, Kenzie loves human company and is good with other dogs, but is no pushover. After years of schooling her many pups, she knows how to stick up for herself, if necessary.
Kenzie is untested with children and cats.
She would make a delightful companion for an individual, couple or a family with older children. She walks quite well on a lead and enjoys a stroll in the morning or afternoon, but would be just as happy mooching about in the backyard or chewing on a bone.
Her adoption fee is $200 and at the point of adoption she will be desexed, vaccinated and microchipped.
If you are interested in meeting Kenzie, the first step in our adoption process is to complete the online application at https://southerndownsark.com.au/apply-to-adopt/ Please ensure you include photos of your yard and fencing.
Preference will be given to a home where someone is around most of the time and there is another compatible dog for her to hang out with. Secure fencing is essential.
Kenzie is not available for interstate adoption.
Medical notes
Kenzie will be surgically desexed in June 2022, as soon as her milk has dried up.
She is carrying an old injury to her right ear, which we will ask our vet to consider for repair when she is being desexed.
We do not know if Kenzie has had heartworm prevention in the previous 12 months.
