About Odin
Odin is a victim of our rental crisis and is urgently in need of a new home. He is a 6 year old adorable and loving Great Dane Mastiff cross. Odin’s been staying with a friend for the last few months. It’s a shame he needs to move again but this time it will be into his forever home. This most recent chapter of Odin’s life has been a fantastic one, he’s had some great exposure to many things he’s not seen or done before.
Odin has learnt to stay on his bed inside, wait patiently at the gate of the fenced property for permission to come through and a number of useful basic commands. If he was allowed to, he’d follow you everywhere and yes even into the toilet. In typical Great Dane fashion, he’s a leaner when sharing the love and will break into Great Dane style zoomies out in the paddock! Fortunately, he seems to have an above average spatial awareness and manages to avoid crashing into innocent bystanders. He’s learned lots of lovely new manners recently however the paw will still often come up for attention. His on-lead walking has improved dramatically but still needs continued work. He loves to run and is doing well with his recall on the property so enjoying this newfound small freedom.
By nature, Odin seems to be very protective of his people and home, however when out and about, which he loves, he’s quite relaxed and warms to most people well. Odin will wait patiently in the car when you need to duck into the shops, it’s all worth it to come for a car ride.
When Odin must stay home, he’s not destructive and is not a barker. He’s toilet trained and capable of staying inside or outside. In saying this, he is currently getting a good deal of exercise which works beautifully for him. It keeps him relaxed and happy to rest when left alone.
Odin could suit a rural lifestyle, he doesn’t jump fences and has been safely around sheep, cows and horses. Like most dogs, a nearby bouncing kangaroo is way too tempting not to go after if he’s off lead. Previously he lived with a smaller dog and in recent months has shown to be able to get along with many more dogs after controlled introductions. One of his favourite friends is a labradoodle who he loves to play with. Odin has never meet cats or lived with birds. Odin would enjoy a home with school age kids to hang out with.
Odin is a sensitive boy who is happy to learn new things. He loves to please and reaping the rewards of being a good boy who gets to do lots of cool activities.
If you’re looking for a slightly more mature companion that is still young at heart and in excellent health to share your life home, please get in touch.
