The Rock is true to the term “gentle giant”, a truly gorgeous character with lots of love to give!

Our Big and beautiful boy is a Rottweiler weighing in at 55.5 kilos

Travelling in car

Rock adores car trips and will usually sit the entire way looking out the window and getting fresh air.

Car travel is one of his very favorite things and he is very well behaved in the car

Food

Rock is food motivated however is patient come meal time. He currently has a small breakfast and larger dinner consisting of dry food. He will sit before, if not on command, when food is involved and this is a great basis for further training. A bone will keep him occupied for hours if not days, and these are definitely a big treat for him.

Outside

Rock will happily come and greet you, likely demanding a Pat or cuddle when approached in the yard. He enjoys his own space and sleeps at the back door, so feels as though he is guarding his people. He will only bark if there is an usual noise that has him on alert.

Grooming

The rock has had a professional grooming session and was very well behaved until the blow dryer lol

Visitors - people

Rock has met a number of people whilst in foster care (although no children interaction) and has responded great in all situations.

Enrichment

Rock LOVES toys, and will often keep himself entertained, selecting his favourite squeaky toys to a tennis walk or a kong. He enjoys fetching a ball or toy, but needs to practice returning it - as he currently trots off with it to his bed.

This gorgeous boy will self entertained for hours by himself with a toy especially a squeaky one, he's like a puppy playing with his favourite toys is gorgeous to watch

Independence

Rock is an extremely independent dog, and has never demonstrated any destructiveness when left unattended. He loves being showered with attention and a long walk after periods of being left alone.

Walks - lead experience

Rock generally walks very well in the leash and finds this is probably his favourite part of the day. We currently walk morning and afternoon for 25-30 mins.

Rock only pulls where a strong smell or something unusual has sparked his interest (ie hearing and seeing an ambulance rush by). He does not appear to like construction equipment and wants to lunge at this when walking.

He has been walked on a rogz control collar with in care and although perfect on walks he does become strong when he has his interest sparked and pulls VERY hard

Obedience

Rock knows his name and is responsive to this, will sit on command especially when food is involved. With more training from committed owners, Rock will be able to reach his full potential. Rock has never once jumped.

Inside

Rock will gladly be an outside dog but requires boundaries to be set. He doesn’t want to leave once he is inside so requires lots of prompting (treats) to go back outside. However, when let inside, he has gone straight to his bed and not moved - a very obedient boy. When he is in he can become VERY stubborn to kick out lol

Socialisation

Dog has reacted well to a number of female dogs we have socialised him with, never too dominant or showing any signs of aggression - but rather disinterest after the initial excitement wears off. He would definitely enjoy a female companion in his future home.

We have encountered some cats when walking and he is always very interested and wants to approach them however cannot comment on whether any reaction to them (chasing etc)

Sleeping habits

Rock sleeps soundly at the back door on a large padded bed, he is a solid sleeper and you won’t hear a peep from him usually.

Medical

When The Rock arrived he had a big growth on his leg and a small growth on his eyelid

Both lumps have been removed and sent to pathology and neither were diagnosed as issues

The Rock Is seeking the following kind of home to call his very own forever home

A nice size yard to play in his toys and play

A full fenced secure yard with shelter and shade

As we have not tested him with small children we would be seeking mature children homes

A home with another dog we feel would be fine but we would only consider females who are well socialized with others

A home that can commit to a daily walk as he loves it

A home that will make The Rock a part of the family
