Moonshine is a young pup who is already 10kg, with huge paws – he’s going to be a big boy. Despite his size, Moonshine is a gentle, smoochy baby, who loves cuddles, chewing toys and sleeping, but HATES getting his feet wet in the rain. He currently lives with his sister and a big brother foster dog whom he idolises. Due to his age and adoration of big dogs, Moonshine will need to go to a family that ideally has a compatible resident dog that is very tolerant of puppy behaviours, or to a family with someone home most of the day, who are willing to socialise Moonshine on a very regular basis. Currently, Moonshine has not met any little people, but does not appear to have mouthy, nippy behaviours so common in young dogs, so would be appropriate to be rehomed with a family that has dog savvy, respectful children.
Moonshine had a delay in vaccination, and therefore has not had any experience on lead or meeting other people and dogs outside his current home. His new family will need to be patient and commit to puppy school or obedience training once he is fully vaccinated so he can develop these vital social behaviours. He has been socialised with a wide range of household visitors, all of whom he has adored, and lives with 2 resident cats, who he would love to worship, if only they would let him kiss and snuggle them.
Moonshine is working hard on his toilet training, but it is very difficult for him to be enthusiastic about going out when it is so cold and wet at the moment. If he has an accident indoors, most of the time it is on a puppy pad or right next to the front door, as no one has noticed him asking to go outside. He is crate trained and sleeps through most nights with the minimum of fuss resettling if something wakes him up. He is used to snuggling with his sister, so as with most new pups, a brief period of readjustment is to be expected.
Moonshine OBSESSES over food, hence the 3kg weight difference between him and his sister. This means he should be very easy to train if you can get him to concentrate. He currently has the attention span of a squashed pea but will sit for his food bowl most of the time. Without the distraction of his sister, I’m sure Moonshine will find training much easier to pick up.
