About Ochre ~ 14wk Old Kelpie(On Trial 16/6/22)
Meet "Ochre" - A true blue Aussie boy by name, breed and nature - A 14 week old red and tan Kelpie with his bags packed ready to start his next adventure! This young pup will blow you away, he is smart, quick to learn and has an intense desire to please, making him easy to train and so much fun!
Ochre aka "Oak" or "Okie Doke" loves people. He purposely seeks out the smallest human in his foster home (age 5), he's happiest in the lounge room amongst the chaos of a busy home. He currently lives with a special needs child and has been incredibly intuitive, bonding with her much sooner than other household members. He is always up for a romp with his doggo foster brother and has good manners around the pocket pet and the chooks too. Car trips are a breeze as long as he has a lap to rest his head and he sure does turn heads in bunnings!
Ochre's foster carer has been using her time to set him up with the best foundations moving forward. With an understanding of critical windows of development she has been working on desensitisation and socialisation and trains with Ochre in 3 small sessions a day. He arrived with no skills or manners but in a short time has learnt to "Sit" "Drop" "Shake" "Stay" "Come" (amazing recall already!) "spin" "touch" and is learning "on your mat". He is crate trained and is now accident free and sleeps soundly all night long. Ochre has commenced puppy pre-school and is building confidence in everyday life - he is no stranger to the camera, living with a pet photographer! Ochre will need ongoing training to help him grow into the best doggo he can be and would be best suited to someone experienced with dogs, particularly working breeds.
Kelpie's are incredibly smart, their mind needs to be kept busy and they love to have a job to do - this means Ochre would need a home where he has access to space, regular exercise and brain stimulation - he will not work out as a family pet where people head off to school/work from 9-5. He can be a bit of a vocal boy (currently working on this with a trainer) Ideally, he would live on a small acreage (must have a fenced house yard) or become part of someone's work life where he can tag along and is surrounded by people. Like any puppy he gets excited easily but has very quickly learnt to sit for attention, he would be ok around small children who are confident with animals and are keen to run a muck with him! He is a beautiful young pup that will bring loads of joy to his new family.
For more information on Ochre, please contact his foster carer at studio@cameraplusdog.com - Ochre is in foster care in Newcastle NSW. His adoption fee is $700 which includes all up to date vet work. Ochre is microchipped, vaccinated and treated for fleas and worms. His adoption fee also includes his desexing.
As Ochre is not yet desexed, he is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because he will need to be returned to a DRN approved vet for desexing when he is approximately 5/6 months old. Please NO out of area applications.
