About 7643 - Dakota
⛰️🧶 MEET DAKOTA 🧶⛰️
My name is Dakota and I’m a sweet little girl looking for my fur-ever home! I’ve had a rough start to life in which I was left to fend for myself out on the streets of suburbia. Thankfully a kind human rescued me when they found me hiding in a bush. I was so frightened of humans in the early days, I used to tremble at the sight of them, trying to protect myself, which gained me the nickname of Miss Sassy-pants!
Nature
I’m still getting used to being a house panther and learning to trust humans. I’m quite young so I should adapt relatively quickly to a new home. Once feeling comfortable and relaxed I am a very sweet, playful, purring princess. If I feel unsure, I will run and hide. Loud noises, quick and sudden movements and new people all still frighten me, so please be patient - trust comes with time.
Companions (Children, Cats & Dogs)
I currently live in foster care with teenage children, adults, cats and a dog. I have not been exposed to young children yet so older children may be better suited as they tend to be more predictable and more sensitive to my needs.
I love the company of other cats! In fact, the company of the resident cats have helped me gain the confidence that I need to come out of my shell. I have seen the resident dog through a glass door but it’s still a bit scary! If given plenty of time and slow introductions, a gentle cat-friendly dog may be a good companion for me.
Likes / Dislikes
I enjoy Royal Canin Kitten wet food and biscuits and also LOVE creamy treats! Routine and predictability are important and I also like to have plenty of hidey-holes to hide away when I’m feeling unsure. When I’m feeling playful, I love dangly toys, mouse shaped toys I can carry around in my mouth and I enjoy chasing balls.
I dislike loud, sudden noises and movements. I am frightened of new environments and new people. Given plenty of patience, love and kindness, I am bound to relax and become the most purr-fect companion.
My PURR-fect home would be quiet and calm with someone who can offer lots of patience and the time needed for me to build trust. A space to call my own in which I could quickly retreat into when feeling unsure would be amazing. A cat tower would be wonderful - one with a hidey-hole to hide in until I’m feeling comfortable to come out, with high platforms for me to sit and observe my surroundings until I feel safe enough to venture out and play. Another kitty companion would be good for company and would help me to continue to build my confidence, but it’s not essential.
