About Sizzle
Sizzle
Looking for someone short, dark and handsome to join your tribe? We have the dude for you!
Meet Mr Sizzle. This adorable tiny little fella is a Jack Russell Terrier x English Staffy mix who only weighs in at 7.5 kilos
Sizzle is a small chap with a soft dappled suit. If he were white in colour you would think of him as a Jack Russell but you can see the staffy genes in him with his slightly broader chest and brindle coat. This makes him a uniquely handsome boy.
If your are looking for a little chap to give you 100% attention and affection look no further as Sizzle is your man. Sizzle is affectionately called Reggie the love bug in his foster home due to his loving nature. Sizzle favourite place is in your lap curled up having a snooze. He will happily sleep there all day if he could
He can be a little timid at times and appreciates reassurance in new situations. He likes to be close to people he knows but easily warms up to anyone that shows him attention.
He enjoys his inside comforts, would like to spend his day warm and cosy snoozing in front of the heater or crackling fire. He is not a fan of cold winter mornings and takes a bit of coaxing to go out for a walk or wee. Once he is rugged up in his coat he will head out the door to sniff out the daily news and does enjoy his walks
Obedience .
When Sizzle arrived it seems he hadn’t been given much training.
He is still learning what it means to walk on a lead so can be a bit of a zig zager out on his walks but each day he is improving. As he is a small dude he is easy to manage on walks Although well behaved around the house he is still learning sit, stay and his basic commands but as he is food motivated this makes training much easier. We would like his new owners to do some group obedience training with him if possible to improve his skills as well as controlled socialisation.
Visitors and people
Sizzle can be a little shy and timid when he meets a new person but warms up quickly and will soon become your best friend if you have a treat or pat for him. He’s happy to crawl onto anyone’s lap and snuggle in for more loving attention. He enjoys the company of both adults and children, he’s fascinated with the kids and likes their company as long as he’s not overwhelmed.
Enrichment
Our little man never showed any interest in toys initially most probably because he never had any! After encouraging him to engage in play his little personality is starting to shine and he is finding out the enjoyment of toys
He enjoys dog chews too as most dog do.
Independence
Sizzle would like to be around humans all day but is ok on his own outside for some periods during the day. He is a quite chap outside and content to be out there on his own snoozing on his mat. There have been no issues with barking or scratching at the door
Other dogs
Sizzle has not been well socialised so introductions to other dogs need to be on lead with caution. He is not your dog park kinda dude. He has not met many dogs on his walks, but has been ok if other dog takes notice. He appears to tolerate them from a distance and has had one close up sniff and was fine but as he is a bit anxious in new situations we do this with caution. If other dogs are interested or reactive he may let out a growl and has been seen to bark and pull.
Sleep habits
Sizzle likes rest time and naps. Sleeps very well though the night on his own bed.
Food
Sizzle is a healthy weight with a healthy appetite. He’s fed a mixture of high quality Prime 100 and dry food. He doesn’t mind leftovers either especially kids weetbix in the morning before school drop off
Hygiene needs
Sizzle has a short coat that doesn’t really need any maintenance. Sizzle has had a few accidents inside as he can be reluctant to go outside in the cold but this has improved with a regular toileting regime and a little outside walk to do his business is proving effective.
Car travel
Sizzle can be a bit nervous in the car. He would sit on your lap if he could so does need to have a sealtbelt restraint for his safety. He is quiet and well mannered on car trips
Ideal home
A home with children over 5 who understand dogs boundaries and not to overwhelm dogs
Someone who likes an affectionate dog and can provide lots pats and cuddles as this little fella is a lap dog all the way
Daily walks and continues his own lead training
No dog parks or off lead areas. Slow on lead introductions with caution
Group Obedience training in a controlled environment where he can improve his dog socialisation skills
