About Tilly
PLEASE NOTE: TILLY IS ON HOLD PENDING ADOPTION. NO MORE ENQUIRIES PLEASE. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO SHOWED INTEREST IN TILLY
Gorgeous Tilly is a 7.5 year old Maltese Shih-tzu (born 10.11.2014). She has had the same devoted owners since she was 8 week’s old and Tilly is a very reluctant surrender but the welfare of this lovely pet is front and centre of everything. However, her owner has had some health issues this year necessitating the sale of the family home and a move into a local retirement village where unfortunately pets are not welcome.
Ideally, we would love to re-home Tilly here in Port Macquarie with a retired lady or couple – someone who has the desire to walk Tilly twice a day and be fully dedicated to getting Tilly back to a more normal weight. It is in Tilly’s best interests to trim down and therefore she needs a yard large enough for her to run around in. Gates and fences must be secure, she quite likes to get out and check out the neighbourhood!
Tilly is definitely an inside girl and is used to sleeping on her owner’s bed. It may be quite difficult to get her out of this habit at this stage of her life, so we are looking for someone who will be happy to let her continue with these sleeping arrangements.
Tilly will need to be kept on a very strict diet until she gets back to a respectable weight, no treats offered and a firm NO will be necessary to achieve this result.
She plays with her many toys and is a very happy and friendly girl. She is good around other dogs, so a doggy companion her own size would suit her just fine. NO CATS though. She doesn’t have any issues around children either, so grandchildren could visit her without any issues.
Her general health is good, she does like to lick her feet sometimes, which results in brown stained feet – perhaps a spray with a product such as Wound-Gard would stop this habit. Tilly underwent n extensive dental on 26th May and had 2 extractions on upper right side, a scale and polish. She has regular dental periodontal treatments and all her vaccinations are current. (due again January 2023).
Tilly is ready to go to her new home now, and we will be looking to find the best home that we can for her. **
Please note: Tilly is not suitable to go to a home where the owner works away from home during the day. We are looking for a retired person/or coupe who are available to spend most of their day around Tilly.
Medical notes
Needs to be kept on a very strict diet until down to a reasonable weight. No health issues. Extensive dental carried out on 26.5.2022 with 2 extractions on upper right side.
Adoption details
The first step is to phone or email Midcoast Dog Rescue Inc. for assessment regarding prospective ownership and pet suitability.
Adoption Application forms must be completed.
A property inspection will be carried out on properties in the Port Macquarie area so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you’ve selected. Proof of home ownership will be required. If renting your home, a letter from the owner’s agent confirming that the pet is allowed will be required.
A 2 week trial period commences on the day of adoption. If, for any reason, the dog is returned to Midcoast Dog Rescue within the trial period, the total adoption fee paid will be refunded.
All Midcoast Dog Rescue animals come desexed, microchipped, vaccinated (up to date), vet checked ,wormed, flea and tick treated.
.......................
Midcoast Dog Rescue Inc. is trying to expand its foster carer network so that we can help more dogs in need. This is a very rewarding experience and suits a variety of people. Some people, for whatever reason, are unable to make a permanent commitment to a dog, a commitment which can last for up to 15 years. Others use the fostering experience as an interim measure before committing to permanently owning a dog. If you think you could be interested in becoming a foster carer, either on a long-term or a short-term basis, and would like more information please contact Nigel on 6584 4992 or Wendy on 6584 7027.
