√ older child friendly (10+)
√ dog friendly
x no cats
Copper loves to greet you every morning with a tail wag and paws on the barrier gate, which he’s learning he shouldn’t, but he’s so happy when his humans arrive in his sleeping area.
After he’s had breakfast and his outside visit, he’ll curl up on a bed in the sunshine or start playing with his doggie friends.
Even though he has 2 big boy dogs to play with, he’ll pass them up for human interaction. He waits for you to sit down on the lounge, then sits in front of you, waiting for permission to sit beside you for cuddles. He does listen to ‘stop’ and ‘no’ (tone of voice too), but if you’re not upset with doggie licks and cuddles, then he’s yours. He’ll snuggle up to you and go to sleep close by.
Copper knows his food is given to him away from the other dogs, but that’s only because he wants to eat their food too! He sleeps in his crate, but does prefer the comfy dogs’ beds on the floor or to sneak onto the lounge where he’ll sleep with his head on the armrest or human lap.
He sits, is starting to understand ‘wait’ – humans go outside and inside first. He ‘sits’ for his meals, but waiting to eat is a work in progress. He loves his food and is quick learner when rewarded with treats. Recalls are a work in progress. Mostly perfect, but if there’s a good smell or something else going on, he’s slow to recall. He’ll toilet when he’s let outside. If he’s inside and wants to go, he’ll whine, especially at night, to wake you up.
He loves travelling in the car, especially with the windows open for all the new smells. Copper is not a fan of cats, especially when they hiss at him. Tennis balls are his favourite toy and he’ll play for ages with them, along with treat balls full of treats!
He’s very good at the vet. He’ll let the vet poke and prod him without a whimper or protest, even when the fingers go in the mouth to check teeth. PS the vet nurses love him and his soft tan coat!
Copper is learning that other dogs can be friends and with slow introduction will become friends with them. He would love his new family to have another dog for him to enjoy playing with and a human child or two over 10 years of age who can keep teaching him not to jump when excited, how to walk on the lead, trips in the car and give him lots of praise. He would be fine alone as long as a human was home most of the day so he could curl up close to them.
With that lovely personality and love for humans, Copper will seek out cuddles and love from his forever family and they’ll be rewarded with a faithful family member.
