About Vaughan
Hello there!
My name is Vaughan and the below is from my foster carer!
Here is a description of Vaughn for the website:
Vaughn has settled well into our home. Once he knew our routine, he relaxed a lot. He is a friendly dog who loves walks, playing tug a war, chasey, hide and seek or catching a ball. He also enjoys pats and belly rubs.
He loves to say hello to people, gets along well with other friendly dogs and has been around small children without any issues. He doesn't bark very often at all and will quieten down when you ask him to. He is happy to be with others, following you around as you work around the yard and will chill out a lot during the day.
He does love food and treats and is trained to sit and wait for his food. He does sometimes jump up to say hello or if he thinks you have food but with some training he has improved with this. Ongoing training will see him improve even more. He is a strong dog so would be best suited to adults or a family with slightly older children aged 8 and up. He does have lots of energy so a daily walk and/or play is something he loves. A family with active kids ready to play with him would be awesome! He has gotten to know when it is walk time and so will watch me like a hawk to see when we are going! On his walks he does love to pounce on any bugs he sees and smell/sniff his way around the neighbourhood. Sometimes the sniffing gets the better of him and he will end up with the sneezes! The sniffing hasn't stopped the walking, after introducing some training he does keep up with you. He has a keen nose and is able to sniff out all sorts of things!
Like all young dogs, Vaughn will thrive with ongoing training for jumping up and walking on a lead. He aims to please and has responded to training without food.
The only issue we have had is with chewing part of an old couch and some minor digging. The couch is old, already had rips in it and he has only added to it. He hasn't chewed on anything that is fully intact! We have found that when he is on his own during the day a frozen lick bowl attached up high has kept him interested and helps to wear him out so he leaves our already chewed couch alone. Having plenty of chew toys with food hidden inside also keeps him busy. We have crate trained him at night so he is happy to go into a roomy kennel for the night, we close the door and he just sleeps! I would say he prefers to be tucked away at night!
Vaughn is a loveable dog who is always happy to see you and wants to spend time with you! He is curious and loves to see what is going on around him. We have had him as an outside dog and he has kept our family entertained when playing with him. The puppy head tilts and eyes make him irresistible. He is a lovely dog!
