About Naia
Introducing our beautiful, kind-hearted Naia. She is a German Shepherd x Staffy weighing in at 26kg.
At 10 months old she is just a med size girl and we dont expect her to grow much bigger
What an absolute treasure it has been for us to get to know this lovely girl and earn her trust over these few weeks. Seeing her grow into a loving, happy and cuddly dog has been incredibly rewarding and will be too for her new family. She will make the most amazing and loyal addition to a kind and patient family. Her new family has to understand that trust is built over time and needs to be supportive and patient.
She was definitely mistreated in her prior life and has now gained her love and trust of people so we need to forever home to be very kind and gentle people
Naia loves the company of other dogs and really excels in their company so we are definitely seeking a home with other dog to be her best friend

Travelling in the car:
Naia is a bit nervous about getting into the car, so she is normally picked up and placed in the back seats. However while driving, she loves to have the windows down and rest her nose on the window while she enjoys the smells and sights of the outdoors. She is definitely happy to jump out of the car herself. Encouragement and treats help with this process.
Food:
Naia loves her food! Throughout the day she will snack on her dry food, preferably from a snuffle mat, and loves her chicken and vegetable prime in the evenings. Schmackos, peanut butter, carrots, pretty much anything she will enjoy for treats. She absolutely loves her kongs and lick mats.
Inside/Outside:
Naia is her foster mum’s shadow, no matter where you go, she will always be curious to see what you’re doing. Majority of her time is spent inside, always in the same room with her humans whether that’s chilling on the couch or her own bed. Naia will require a larger sized yard to roam and explore, especially to run around when her doggy friends come over to visit. She would benefit from having access inside and out via a doggy door.
Visitors/People:
Although she is still a little hesitant, Naia has been growing her confidence to greet new people with a smile and wagging tail. She likes young children and is gentle with everyone but is wary of fast movements/actions.
Enrichment:
Naia won’t be destructive of the house or furniture but she does need enrichment to exert her energy and provide brain stimulation. She loves kongs, bones and especially snuffle mats. She requires daily walks and/or going to the dog park.
Walks:
Naia didn’t have any lead experience prior to our care so she is still learning. She requires lots of guidance and prefers to walk next to you. She will always look up at you to make sure you’re still there, especially if it’s a new path. Although she won’t sit at the side of the road, she will stop and wait when asked and will only cross the road when you start to.
Obedience:
Naia has been incredibly nervous with obedience training, she will go to lay on her back if you try to guide her with any command. Although she is food motivated, she will lose focus or turn her attention to something else. I believe she would benefit from puppy school/obedience training classes. Her recall is good and she will listen if she is getting into something she’s not supposed to.
Dog/ Cat Socialisation:
Naia loves loves loves other dogs! She has great doggy manners and knows when to back off or correct another dog. She loves making new friends and running around with them at the dog park, her new family will have to make time to continue socialising with Naia. She loves our resident cat and loves to follow him around.
Naia is great with cats
Sleeping habits/Toilet training:
Naia sleeps in her foster parent’s bedroom on her own bed, she will sleep from 10pm to 8am. Throughout the day we have the back door open so Naia will go outside for the toilet. At night when the door is shut, she will signal by standing at the door and prefers company to go out with her.
Ideal Home:
- The ideal home for Naia is a family that will keep her active and socialised
- A home with a young medium/large MALE dog. He will need to be dog-social and calm to be Naia’s role model and companion
- A home where Naia is an inside dog with access to outside
- A home that is committed to building Naia’s trust
- A home that is committed to providing training, daily enrichment and walks
- A home where she is not alone for long periods of the day
- A home with children 12+ who are mature, gentle and dog socialised
