About Charlie
Charlie is a Chihuahua/Jack Russell mix. He's got the loyalty and alertness of a chihuahua that makes him an excellent watchdog and the intelligence and the energy of a Jack Russell. This handsome boy has a big personality packed into a pocket-sized package. Charlie loves walks/jogs more than anything. Charlie is best suited for someone who's active and able to take him on a walk/jog at least once a day. He loves his bed with blankets to keep him warm and will arrange it the way he wants.
Charlie, being a half chihuahua, likes to be the only pet in the house. He will be best suited for a house with older children or adults.
He is quite anxious around strangers/new people. But once he warms up to you Charlie will beg you for pats and will try his best to get on to the couch and snuggle with you under a blanket. Charlie bonds strongly with his ‘person’, but it takes him time and his new family will need to be able to be patient, giving him space until he decides you’re pretty alright.
He is easy to maintain given his size. He has a soft, short coat. He knows basic commands and will be a breeze to teach him more with high value treats. He is a quick learner but again, you need to be patient and earn his trust. Charlie is super alert and will let you know of any suspicious noises or movements outside the house. A noisy street with lots of activity would be too arousing for him. Charlie enjoys exploring the backyard. He is house trained and is an inside dog! Charlie is all about a luxurious life!
He has a tendency to chase scents and lunge at other dogs & people when on walks. Charlie is a nervous dog who needs an experienced owner or someone who's willing to put in the training required to make him more relaxed around humans and other dogs. He also doesn't like to be left alone in the house and therefore would be best suited for someone who is home most of the time (At least in the beginning). He doesn't cope well when left alone for long periods. Structured training will help with working on these things.
Charlie is looking for someone who is patient and will commit to training him to be the best version of himself.
