About Peaches
Peaches has been with us for a while. By a while, I mean the entirety of 2022 plus several other long stints in emergency boarding with the SCAR team and our fantastic foster carers over the course of the last few years.
While we love her to bits and can absolutely vouch that Peaches is a sweet and affectionate cat with her people. We also understand that Peaches is well... kind of a Pain in the Peaches!
At 16 years of age and following a long life with her one and only Dad who passed away early this year, Peaches is set in her ways and her list of "What Makes Peaches Happy" is non-negotiable for her. We know this because we've tried negotiating and she's not budging!
Peaches List For Life:
-Litterboxes! Not one. Three at a minimum, spaced exactly one metre apart in quiet room. They need to be of a decent size and cleaned, ideally straight away because she can't flush the toilet herself and she does not like dirty litter trays. If you don't provide this, Peaches will pee right next to whatever you give her - or maybe on your bed! If you don't own a tape measure, we suggest you buy one 😉
-A cat-free home! This seems odd for a 16-year-old cat who prefers company, but Peaches appears to have practiced the fine art of Feline Ninjutsu for her entire existence and will wield her impressive technique on any hapless cat sharing her space. If you don't believe us, you can ask Sir Walter, who is a true gentleman and has been trying and failing to peacefully co-exist with Peaches since late 2021.
-Regular vet visits! While Peaches has assured us that she has discovered the Well of Eternal Life and will be hanging around for a long while yet, her thyroid and kidneys give away her age. Thankfully, Peaches hates healthy foods and much prefers Feline McDonald's to that fancy smanchy stuff from the vet - don't bother trying to convince her otherwise because she knows what she wants and will not compromise. She does still need regular blood tests and ongoing medication though because her goal is still Eternal Life.
-Quiet household! Again, seems like an odd request for a cat who adores company, but we think Peaches is really missing the 'Just the Two Of Us' routine of her previous life. She is happy to extend her social circle to two or three adults but has zero interest in being part of a busy household.
-A lack of dogs would also be preferable but not essential. Be warned though, that Peaches tolerance for dogs extends to quiet unassuming canines or else they get the same treatment as every other four-legged creature who crosses her path- a slap in the face or six, repeatedly, in quick succession. If you foster dogs and want a cat to teach them about the superiority of felines, Peaches may just be your girl!
You can see why she's been with us a while.
That said, foster care was never meant to be the end of Peaches story and we would really love to find Peaches a permanent human or two, to complete her Dynamic Duo retirement dreams once again.
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
