About Quake
AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION
QUAKE ❤❤
Age - Approx 12 months
Breed - Domestic Short Hair
Gender - Female
Cat Friendly - Yes meeting other social cats
Dog Friendly - Untested. Would need to be a very placid and gentle dog for her to get to know. No puppies or boisterous dogs.
Child Friendly - Would be okay with older children who understood her extra needs.
Smooch Scale - Very smoochy girl!
Medical Notes - Quake has Cerebellar Hypoplasia. Her cerebellum in her brain is underdeveloped which causes her to have altered fine motor skills and depth perception.
Our sweet girl Quake has had her vetwork completed and is ready to start searching for her extra special forever family. Quake came into care as a shelter transfer, she raised a litter of healthy bubs and came to us afterwards for care and rehoming.
Quake is a quirky, cheeky, and funny young lady who loves everything about life. She loves attention and head tickles, she loves her food, and she is non stop playing with all of her favourite toys. Quake is very much a kitten again now that her motherly duties have finished, she is always doing something dorky or silly.
Quake has Cerebellar Hypoplasia, a congenital neurological condition where the Cerebellum is underdeveloped during utero. Because your Cerebellum is responsible for handling all of your coordination and fine motor skills, if it is smaller than usual it alters these movements. Quake is wobbly on her feet and will occasionally take a tumble, but is quick to get back up on her feet. She has a 'woodpecker' like head bobble which worsens when she is concentrating on something (eating or sniffing etc). She can make erratic movements, and her reactions to certain things can be heighten.
No need to feel sorry for sweet Quakey though, our girl would hate it if you make her feel different to all of her friends. A few things can easily be tweaked in her environment to make life as easy and exciting for her as possible.
Quake's list of special requests:
• Indoor only at all times. The outdoor world isn't safe for any kitty, especially not Quake.
• No access to internal stairs (unless carpeted and nowhere to fall), and no access to a balcony or verandah that isn't enclosed.
• Raised food and water bowls to make it easier at meal times. You use more balance the further you lean down. 🙃
• Toys, beds, and scratchers that are ground level. Quake will definitely try and venture onto higher surfaces, but will spend most of her time at a lower level.
Please get in touch if you would like to arrange a meet and greet with little Quake. 🐾

Adoption details
If you would like to know more information about any of our rescue animals, our rescue group, or to arrange a meet and greet, please email us. Please provide us with your name, email address, contact number, and some information about yourself, and the home you have to offer one of our rescue animals.
About us:
Gary and the Handicats Rescue is run soley by a Vet Nurse who works shift work and also cares for sick and high needs rescue animals. We strive to get back to you within 24 hours, but during busy kitten seasons there may be a delay. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Please note we do not run on a "first in first served" basis. We screen applicants well before proceeding with adoption. Vet and rental references may be required for certain special needs adoptions.
We receive a large amount of interest in our handraised kittens, and certain special needs animals. Please understand that if you're application isn't successful, this may just be due to the amount of applications we have had for that particular animal, and not because of the home you have to offer. Preference is always given to our past adopters.
Meet and Greets:
• Meet and greets are held in an environment where the particular cat or kitten feels most comfortable.
• Please do not bring your own animals to a meet and greet.
• We do not allow any of our animals to be taken home on the day of the meet and greet. Special circumstances may be considered.
Picking up you're new family member:
• You MUST bring a safe, secure, and size appropriate carrier for your baby to travel home in. We do not have carriers to provide new adopters, and we will not send home one of our rescue animals in a cardboard box or a washing basket. If a carrier isn't able to be provided, your adoption will be cancelled.
