About Timber
Timber has always had to do it by himself. He was born, and lived as a stray, on the streets in rural NSW. Timber had never been handled by people - a true street dog! Although this is a sad to his life, it meant that he came to us a completely blank canvas ready to be moudled. To give him the best start, Timber has been in foster care with a dog behaviouralist and their family which has given has him a very solid foundation and allowed him to become a great family dog.
Timber is now ready for an experienced family to take the reigns and continue to show this beautiful dog all the benefits of being a part of a loving family. He will need time and understanding when transitioning to his new home. As Timber grew up by himself, he could easily revert to his independent lifestyle. He will need a family who will smother him so much that he has no opportunity to revert to the dog who first came to us. Initially, he was completely shut down around people and wouldn’t even let people touch him due to having previously being unhandled. His fear came through as avoidance and never aggression, but he definitely needed the guidance of a professional to break through his barriers. Obviously, we do expect some regression in his confidence moving into a new home. To negate this and help his new family to guide him appropriately through this transition, an extensive handover will be done by the dog behaviouralist at the time of adoption. His family will then need to be patient and committed to continuing Timber’s growth. Timber needs a family who will encourage him to do everything they are doing around the house, whether that be following them around, getting up on the couch for cuddles, playing games with the kids or just being given attention and affection.
As Timber came to us as a blank canvas and has been introduced to everything in a positive manner, he has many great attributes. He absolutely LOVES all other dogs and is super dog social. Timber is very playful and would really love regular playdates with other social dogs. One of his greatest qualities is how much he gravitates towards children. He has been living with 2 dog savvy children in the 5-10 year old age bracket and learnt to enjoy engaging and playing with them. Timber has also been exposed to livestock and poultry which he is great with. In the home he is also well-mannered and toilet trained.
His basic training is quite advanced having engaged in daily training sessions. Timber has come so far from the dog who would roll around on the ground in panic if a lead was ever connected to him. Now, he is skilled at loose lead walking and obedience commands. Timber has had some exposure to a small town environment as his trainer is located in a rural area; however, he has not had the opportunity to be exposed to busier areas or the city. We don’t yet know how he will be able to cope in busier environments so his new family will need to be committed to further training and exposure work if they live in suburbia. We do not feel it is fair to place Timber in the inner city so will only be accepting applications from people who live in suburbia or rural areas.
We are looking for an experienced family where Timber will be an integral member of the household. He needs a home as an only dog so that he is able to form a bond and connection with his owners or you will have an older, stable, established dog that lives mostly inside, that is already an established family member. . However, once this bond is firmly established, he could easily share his home with other dogs. Timber would be happy for a home with dog savvy children, but it is not a requirement. His new owners must have the time and energy to commit to his development, and understand that they will get out what they put into him – if left in the yard to himself, he would happily never be touched by people again; however, we want him to have a loving family where he can continue to discover the benefits of being mans best friend. Timber’s new owners need to be home most of the time so that he has that ongoing interaction with people which will help prevent him from regressing. As a young dog with a good foundation and so many good attributes, he now just needs that kind-hearted person who will take him under their wing and give he all the love he deserves.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
