Traveling in car
She travels well and doesnât get car sick, sometimes gets very excited other times will just sleep the whole trip.
Food
Abby will eat whatever is given to her, she loves her treats and in particular loves her prime 100
She is currently on a diet of Dry kibble, and her high value food during walking and training
Outside
Abby often sleeps and sun bakes throughout the day when the rays are out . She's super relaxed and happy to plot around by herself. When approached in the yard she will greet you with excitement and classic staffy chat. She keeps herself entertained doing not much, mostly sleeping while her family are at work. She's not destructive and isn't a barker
Visitors- people
Abby is great with people of all sizes and ages. She can get over excited but is a massive sweetheart.
Abby loves people and will make a terrible guard dog as she loves everyone . She greets everyone with a smile and a waggy tail and seems to enjoy the company of children
Enrichment
Abby shows no interest in toys or balls but loves to run around with you and go on walks. She doesn't require a whole heap of entertainment, she just is happy to be a part of the family activities when they get home . The occasion bone is great but she does really enjoy a good walk each day
Independence
Abby Is more than happy to self entertain or sleep when left in the backyard however will occasionally give a little sook if she can see you inside through the door and you're not paying her attention. She is actually a very independent girl
Walks- lead experience
Abby is great on lead until she sees another dog
Please refer to Dog Socializing section
Obedience
Abby knows the commands: sit, come and stay. This is a new learning for Abby and using high value treats are working well. As being the breed she is lol sometimes she can take a few times to follow these commands .
Inside
Abby will wander around a bit, especially initially but mostly will just follow you around everywhere you go. She also loves a couch snooze and cuddle session. She has not been destructive while inside and has not tolerated while inside
Her ultimate goal is to laze on the couch and snuggle with you while you relax
Dogs socialization, cat and small animals
She is not social with other dogs, cats or other animals
Abby has dogs in neighboring yards and seems to enjoy playing through the fence with the friendly ones BUT when out on walks and she sees another dog she becomes very fixated and aggressive behaviors will show. We have sent her to a training camp and now with an experienced handler and HIGH VaLUE food we can get her to sit calmly while another dog walks past
This training will need to be an ongoing with a dedicated and experienced owner to continue this training as it is working well and she is becoming more disinterested with carrying on like a pork chop when she sees other dogs
We are using high value food when on her walks and this becomes part of her meal so she is very focused during her walk time.
Sleeping habits
She sleeps outside under a fully covered verandah and snores through the night, loves a very soft fluffy bed or with lots of blankets so she can snuggle into
Toilet training
Abby is mostly an outside dog. Her toilet queues are wandering and sniffing, but we just give her regular bathroom breaks and opportunity to go and it works well.
Abby is seeking the following type of home
Abby requires a special kind of home that have the dedication and skills to continue working with her and her dog social skills
She is fine to be left alone while her family are at work but she needs to be a part of the family once they are home
As we have indicated Abby is not dog social so her daily walks should be done by an experienced person who has the skills to distract her and keep her calm with her treats when encountering another dogs
ABBY's ADOPTION CRITERIA
A home with children would be great but we seek school aged with dog experience
A home that have the dedication and time to continue her lead training when seeing another dog
A home with secure fencing and a yard with shade and shelter
Abby does not need a large yard But would love a yard with grass for sunbaking
A Dog experienced home of this breed or similar
For obvious reasons no other pets
