About Ralph π 7yo Chihuahua (On trial 15/8/22)
Ralph is a very sweet and affectionate 7yo, Chihuahua. πΆ. He likes to sit on your lap, give kisses, and be close to you. He adores everyone he meets! His greatest joys in life are being with people, going for walks and exploring the garden. He is beginning to play with toys.
Ralph walks very nicely on a harness and lead and looks forward to his daily walk. He isn't suitable to go to dog parks or to be let off lead. He needs to have a grassy yard, so he's not suited to apartment living.
Ralph will bark to let you know about any suspicious noises or movements outside the house. A noisy street with lots of activity would be too arousing for him. He is good in the car π and jumps in as soon as you open a door. We're told he's good with cats but we haven't tested him so if you have a cat, he'd have to be properly tested π±.
Ralph gets along with other small dogs outside of his home. He can live with one other small, passive dog. Ralph can be possessive of his humans and doesnβt like to be handled roughly, especially when getting his harness off and on, so someone gentle and experienced with dogs is needed.
π Ralph is very much an inside boy and needs to be welcome inside, on your furniture, and sleep inside. He is house trained. He isn't used to being home alone for long hours so we're looking for a home where there is someone home most of the time.
Ralph has a soft, short coat which is low maintenance; just regular brushing, bathing, and nail clipping. He has long legs but is still very small, only around 5kgs.
Ralph is good with children but due to his small size and shy nature he isn't suitable to a busy household with children under 12.
Ralph was surrendered to Dog Rescue Newcastle when his owner died. Small dogs like Ralph typically live to at least 15 years, so he still has more than half his life to enjoy in his forever home.
β We are looking for a forever home for Ralph where there is someone home most of the time; someone who will love him, play with him, take him for a daily walk, and let him sit on their lap. π
Ralph is in foster care in Belmont, NSW (Lake Macquarie, south of Newcastle). βοΈHe is only available for adoption within NSW and ACT. Ralph's adoption fee is $600 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas, worms, vet checked, and microchipped.
π If you would like Ralph to be your very best friend, we need you to please fill out our Adoption Questionnaire https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
