About Millie ~ 1yr Old Kelpie X (Adopted 05/06/2022)
Millie is a confident, affectionate and extremely intelligent approx. one year old kelpie girl. She is on the smaller side for a kelpie. She absolutely loves her humans, loves a belly rub and a snuggle, and just to be by your side wherever she goes. She will often follow you around and lay or sit at your feet just to be near you when you are around.
Millie is an energetic young pup and is not suitable to live in an apartment or townhouse. Her future home requires a yard with secure six foot fencing, as she is a great little jumper and can be quite an adventurous girl. She would not be suitable in a home with cats or pocket pets as she is a bit too interested in them. She is toilet trained and knows to go outside when possible. In her foster home she sleeps inside at night and if she needs to go to the toilet through the night, will bark to be let outside. She has learnt to sit, to wait for her food and is learning stay and come commands. She can be a bit unsure around new dogs off-lead but only until she gets to know them. She gets along very well with her fur brother and sister and enjoys playing wrestling and tug. She has no problems sharing food and eating around her fur siblings. She also likes keeping herself entertained chasing birds while outside in the yard. She would be well-suited to a property and/or an active fur-parent who is looking for a best friend to take on runs, hikes, etc.
Millie still learning not to jump on humans and that play-biting is not okay, so children over 12 are recommended. Millie’s new family must be committed to her ongoing training. Previous experience with owning and training working breeds is highly desirable in this regard. She is very intelligent so will make a great well-behaved companion dog after a bit of training, consistency and love. She has no problem being outside during the day so would be suitable for full-time workers. She would be suitable in a home with other dogs who can keep up with her energy. She does pull a bit on the lead when going for walks but learns very quickly what is okay and what isn’t. She is fine when saying hello to other dogs when on lead.
For more information please contact her foster carer Jade at jade.bowdler@hotmail.com. Millie is currently in care in Cameron Park, NSW (a suburb of Newcastle NSW).
Her adoption fee is $500 which includes all up to date vet work. Millie is desexed, microchipped has been treated for fleas, ticks and worms. To apply to adopt Millie, please complete the application here: https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt.
