Tammy came into care in a very frightened little girl. A few weeks later, she has regained much of her trust and has blossomed into the happy, playful, energetic young dog she was always meant to be! She runs around with tail high and usually wagging and is quick to roll over for a tummy rub. Still initially wary of new people, she now overcomes any reservations quite quickly once she sees they pose no threat. She is positively drawn to both children and dogs as prospective playmates, but is untested with cats or other animals. She has a really lovely nature and has shown no signs of aggression in any form whatsoever.
She is a high energy and excitable young dog that we're sure will mellow with time. Now that she has come out of her shell, she is responding to gentle guidance without reverting back to her former state, and as weeks go on, she will continue to improve and looks forward to positive training. She is intelligent, eager to please and very food orientated. At present she does have a tendency to jump up and to race around the garden, so until this is fully addressed, she would need supervision around small children. She knows, and responds well to, 'sit', and is learning quickly to 'wait' at kerbs when out walking. She does pull a little on the lead, but is improving with practice. A long-lead on the beach is a great way for her to expend energy and thoroughly meets with her approval!
She loves her toys and will spend much of her day racing around the garden with her ball or rope, or lying on the grass chewing her toy bone. Good in the car, she prefers to stand on the back seat to watch the world go by through the windows. She is a dog that would benefit from plenty of exercise to curb any adverse behaviour that could result through boredom....the right doggy playmate could be the answer here. As an indoor dog, she is fully housetrained. She very seldom barks, but will whine to go out if she needs to. Her eye-contact and recall are both good.
Summary: Tammy is a truly lovely dog, both in looks and temperament! Despite not having the best start in life, she is sure to make a wonderful addition to a family willing to offer her the loving, forever home she so deserves.
