About Bert
Bert our mixed breed pup is ready to find a loving and committed home.
Bert was born on the 27 February 2022 and his breed mix is Staghound x New Zealand Huntaway x Heeler x Mastiff. We don't really know how big Bert will grow. We expect medium to large.
Bert is a curious little pup and an absolute go-getter.
When he first came to his foster family he was timid and quiet however he has grown into a confident pup who likes to talk to his humans and dogs he wants to play with - very cute!
Bert will sing the song of his people to let you know he’s hungry. He will also playfully bark during play but fairly quiet otherwise.
He is dog friendly, cat curious, and good with kids (apart from usual puppy clumsiness).
He has mostly been outside but easily picks up cues for going to the toilet when taken outside.
Bert has been fostered with his littermate Ernie, and although his foster family have trialed small bouts of separation with no issues, Bert is likely to cry to begin with and take a few nights to settle in.
Bert’s foster family haven’t done any recall training using his name, so his forever family can easily rename.
Bert hasn’t had any formal training but does pick up things quickly. He will require full training and a lot of work - he is currently a blank slate for his forever family!
Bert's adoption fee is $800 and he goes to his new family desexed, microchipped, flea and worm treated and had his first C5 vaccination. He will require booster vaccinations.

Adoption details
We like to take the personal approach where a person sends an email of interest around an animal and then we will follow up with phone discussions and email exploration through a survey.
Please note we are a small group of volunteers that balances the administrative side with the care of the animals.
Please only apply for one of our animals if you are genuinely interested in them.
We expect the prospective owner to travel to meet the animal and we are open to trial periods to ensure we have the match right.
