About Staria
STARIA
The absolutely amazing and sleek Staria is now seeking his forever home
Staria is a sleek, strong and super smart 10-month-old Kelpie x Staffy He has such a beautiful black coat, so silky and smooth! This boy is very eager to please and has great focus when asking him a request
Staria is a short stocky little fella only weighing in at 20 kilos so based on his age and weight thats pretty much close to what hes going to be we feel.
PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPAM AND JUNK FOLDERS FOR YOUR APPLICATION ONCE YOU HAVE SENT YOUR ENQUIRY
This boy can run and play as long as you want too. He is such an intelligent, quick and playful pup. He loves human companionship and loves to play. As soon as he sees his foster Dad, he whines and gives little barks, ‘play with me, please play with me’. ❤️😂
As soon as anyone goes outside, he zooms to get his favourite toy and will bring it to us to throw. This can go on for quite a long time with him zooming back and forth.
It is so amazing watching his sleek body dart back and forth, jump high into the air and run fast as lightning. He has such beautiful colouring with a sleek, shiny black coat, brown eyes, the unique white star on his chest and white stripe on his right front paw.
He is such a superstar!
OBEDIENCE
Staria is a very intelligent dog and a quick learner. At times it almost seems like he understands English. He comes when you call him, loves ball play and brings the balls back to you. He will hold the ball till you say ‘drop’ and then he drops it, although at times when he gets very excited, he almost tosses the ball at your feet in one fluid motion. Then he crouches down and watches the ball. His focus and speed are amazing to watch, reminding us of a panther in motion. He is very eager to please and would dream to train.
ENRICHMENT
Staria has pretty high energy; he rarely barks once he is settled and comfortable in his new home and surroundings. He will need stimulation when alone for long periods, such as chewing on bones or toys. If left for too long, he can get bored and create his own entertainment by chewing anything he can find. He gets super excited with company.
He loves going on walks and exploring the neighbourhood. He is very high energy and excitable, as most pups can be. He is quite well behaved in the yard and does not dig or destroy things, but he craves human interaction and will sit and whine at the door for someone to play with him. But after a while, he will give up and lie down. If left unattended for too long, he can get bored and can get into mischief as he is still quite young and loves chewing his things. He loves all kinds of toys, especially those he can chew on or fetch.
One of his absolute favourite things is playing fetch and he can play this all day! He loves chasing anything that moves, including the water from the garden hose or sprinkler.
We found that good walks, bones and toys keep him out of trouble. If you throw a ball in the yard and take him on daily walks he will thrive.
SLEEPING
He has been sleeping inside the laundry all night from around 7 or 8 pm until 6 or 7 am in the morning. Through the day he spends some time inside but is also happy outside.
SOCIALISATION
He loves being around his humans and he can get very excited when people visit, even strangers. He has a tendency to start zooming around, jumping up, and greeting them. He can be quite excitable and run around and jump on people and needs to be trained to interact calmly.
He loves human interaction and is very friendly. With other dogs he can be a bit wary at first but once he gets to know the dog (introduced gradually) he is happy to play.
Staria has met a few canine friends on his travels with his foster family. He is very playful although he can get a bit anxious and growl if he is unsure. He can be a bit vocal and loves to run and play. He has had several strangers visit him in the backyard and he has always greeted them with excitement and zoomies.
Staria is suited to be an only dog or a companion for another but if another dog is in residence we would be seeking a very well socialized female who loves to play and is of similar size.
FOOD
He eats well morning and night; he loves fresh doggy rolls (Prime 100) the best. He is given raw bones for enrichment. He loves the Savour Life treats for training. He is not extremely food-focused but will eat when he is hungry. He does like treats and can be used successfully for training.
TRAVEL/CAR
He needs a little bit of encouragement to get into a car but is very happy when he is inside with minimal reassurance if he seems unsure.
IDEAL HOME:
We feel that Staria would thrive in a home with a family that is regularly home who include him in all aspects of their lives. Staria would probably prefer to be an inside dog with easy outside access, giving him the freedom to choose. He is happy to be left outside when his humans are away. His family will need to invest time in him and ensure he has daily enrichment because he is very intelligent and active. He will need space as he loves to run so a decent yard is required. Staria is a loyal and adorable companion and would love to live with a family that is active, give him the attention, energy, training and enrichment that he needs and who love to play with him.
