Darby

Darby is a highly active and alert young dog, full of the joys of life! He is a friendly boy who enjoys the company of both humans and other dogs, and enjoys being busy.

Darby came into care without any training or experience in the big wide world, and has responded very quickly to some basic training, learning to walk on lead, travel in the car and come when he’s called. He will blossom with further training which will not only make him an even better companion dog but will provide him with the mental stimulation he craves and build a great bond with his new person. He is keen to learn and eager to please, so he would really enjoy some obedience training and would probably excel at dog sports, as he’s also an athletic boy. He would make an excellent running buddy and is sure to keep you motivated to get out of the house.

Darby has been quite content to stay in the backyard with his foster brothers while his foster Mum is at work, without any issues.

Darby is now looking for his own special person or family who will enjoy his zest for life and who has plenty of time to spend with him. He is looking for a home where he will not only get lots of exercise (did we mention he was active?!), but also the opportunity to learn and achieve his full potential as a companion dog. Previous herding breed experience would be advantageous, or a willingness to learn about these wonderful dogs. He would love to have another dog in his home but this will not be essential if he has plenty of human company. He is untested with cats and not suitable for a home with livestock or horses due to a high prey drive. He would be fine with older children who he can't accidentally knock over.
