Meet Vronski! A much loved big (56kg) pure bred 2-year-old (almost 3!) Borzoi pup looking for a very loving home. Vronski is very regretfully needing a new home as his elderly owner is no longer able to care for him given recent health issues. His owner is devastated about rehoming him so only very loving and suitable homes will be considered.
Vronski has been living as a pet since being a pup with his current owner and has always lived alongside other sighthounds. He loves the company of other dogs and loves to play, and would love a friend to live with.
He is a large gentle giant with a very friendly temperament. Very affectionate and loves a cuddle. Never any sign of aggression towards humans or other dogs (cats not tested). Loves a morning cuddle on the bed to wake you up for a walk!
As a young dog, Vronski has a lot of energy. He loves a play with other dogs at the dog park and currently gets 2 hours of exercise per day (one hour in the morning and one hour of the evening). Vronski needs this level of activity at a minimum to stay out of mischief.
As gentle and charming as Vronski is, there are also some things to be aware of.
Vronski will escape from a property that is not adequately fenced and go walk about. At the park, he can occassionally bolt if something catches his attention and does not have adequate recall. For this reason, he is best walked in places where there is a fence. Ideally he would be best suited to a house with a large yard where he can play and get his energy out.
Vronski is also extremely food motivated. This means that food needs to be out of reach. He finds anything and everything! He is also prone to nuzzling his head into the pockets of strangers in search of treats. For this reason, food would be a good motivator to do some basic training with Vronski.
He is also a very strong dog. At 56kg and with a very curious nature, when he pulls on the lead he does require a lot of strength to handle him.
Vronski is toilet trained.
Overall, Vronski is a cheeky, gentle giant with a huge heart (and a big stomach to match!). He is used to lots of affection (and is very well accustomed to sleeping on the couch and bed!). His current owner would like the opportunity to see him occasionally to see how he settles into his new home. Only new homes will be considered where there is familiarity with sight hounds.
