About Potato
~ Introducing Potato ~
Aka: Potato Gem ....
Potato arrived at Socares without a microchip and was terrified of where he was. He was very wary when any staff would enter his kennel to try and interact with him. So terrified, this poor little fellow would often wet his bed out of fear.
After a week or so, we finally won him over and Potato completely changed his tune.
Potato became super confident, happy and absolutely thrived on human interaction. He became this super energetic boy and couldn’t wait to get out of his kennel for some fun.
We discovered that Potato loved tennis balls!! If you are holding one you immediately have his undivided attention. Potato knows the word “ball” and if you have thrown a ball and say to him “where is your ball” or “go find your ball” he gets very excited and runs off to find it.
Potato does know his basic commands and will sit when asked. He has lovely lead manners and loves the outdoors.
When Potato sees any dog he immediately pulls you towards them and can be quite vocal along the way. He is extremely keen to say hello, however this behaviour may not be appreciated by all canine friends. Potato will need to be given further guidance by his new owner to help him overcome this.
Sex: Male
Breed: Staffy X Jack Russell Terrier
Colour: Brown & White

Toilet Trained: No
Other pets: Potato has met a number of canine friends of all sorts of sizes, sexes and breeds. He was fabulous with all of them accept when he met an undesexed male. At the time Potato was also not desexed so we believe this could have played a part in how he reacted.
When Potato met a cat at our shelter he was very scared and quite literally did a back flip out of the room. In an environment such as a home where Potato feels confident and settled, he may become more interested in cats. Any introduction with a feline companion would need to be done slowly.
Type of home: Potato isn’t a big dog but he can still jump. Due to this he needs a home with 6ft fencing. Any fencing must also be to the ground, so there is no way for him to push his little wiggle butt underneath.
Potato loves to explore and be with people. He would appreciate being able to join his new family on lots of adventures and be included in all of their fun activities.
Potato’s adoption fee covers: Microchipping, desexing, lifetime registration, up to date vaccination, flea & worming treatments.
If you would love a little pocket rocket in your life to brighten your days, please lodge your interest.
