About Kenzie
Gorgeous Kenzie is ready to fully make her mark on this world. She is a Staffy mix, 6 months of age with quite long limbs and large soft-to-touch paw pads. She weighs 16kg and will continue to put on more weight as she grows.
With her beautiful brindle markings and her lovely temperament she will make a wonderful family addition
She joined us a few weeks ago and has settled in immediately. She has had a foster brother keeping her company and âshowing her the ropesâ on how to be the goodest doggie, which she most certainly is! She likes to give smooches here and there and adores a rub down of her front legs and chest. She will make a truly wonderful addition to the right family

OBEDIENCE
Kenzie is still a puppy, so she has lots of time to learn, and she is absorbing things quite quickly. She responds well to treats as a reward for positive behaviours, so she has already learnt to sit and stay without getting too excited. seems to have already been toilet trained when she arrived, as she knows the right places to do her business, and if inside, she will bark to be let out. For a young girl, she is quite headstrong and will not do things if she doesnât want to do them, but with some encouragement, she changes her tune.
ENRICHMENT
As Kenzie is still a pup, she is doing lots of âpuppyâ things (teething and therefore chewing, woofing for unwarranted attention, jumping), so itâs important to keep her engaged and active through this important growth stage. Toys are a must and have helped redirect her unwanted behaviours such as digging. She seems to like soft, plush toys to teethe on, and she loves Kong filled toys as well (these are particularly good as they add a layer of longevity and keep her focused). She has also been enriched with consistent engagement with her foster humans and foster brother, which is key to ongoing positive and acceptable behaviours as she gets older.
EXERCISE
Exercise is so important to keep Kenzie happy and content. Walking has been encouraged with Kenzie, but it is a bit hit-and-miss. She will gladly walk alongside her foster brother when they walk together, keeping up with his energetic pace. However, when going for a walk with just her humans, she can become quite headstrong, choosing to stop regularly and dawdling behind. A slow walk is ok, but its hard to walk she has stopped entirely! We have been encouraging her to keep moving along by offering treats and lots of pats which is working well so far, but this is an ongoing area that her new family will need to work on. She has lots of opportunities to run and play with her foster brother in the backyard to keep her active, so the right home for her will need to have a decent sized backyard. This little girl is still a pup so with more exposure she will have this sorted in no time at all.
SLEEPING
Kenzie has been sleeping inside on cosy bed, in her own dedicated space for the entire time (bar the first night). Sleep time generally begins at 7:30/8 and she is taken outside later in the evening for toileting, before truly settling in for the night. You will know when sheâs awake as she cries out a sweet little whistle and lets out a gentle moan to say âwake up with me and let me outâ! That is anywhere between 6 and 7am.She is a very quiet sleeper, not making any sounds. Youâll also find her having her naps outside in the sun or curled up with her foster brother in the kennel or on the elevated beds.
SOCIALISATION
Kenzie has been social from the get-go. She prefers to meet other canines and humans on her own terms (slowly and patiently) before her tail begins to wag and starts to follow. She has been able to successfully understand cues given to her from other dogs, particularly that of her foster brother. From the beginning, her relationship with her foster brother (20-month-old Boxer-cross of similar size) has been a positive one where she can truly develop positive and confident social skills. She knows not to touch his food while he is eating, and has always been mindful of his space when outside. When inside at night, she likes to share his bed, but he doesnât seem to mind. Socialness will need to be encouraged and implemented in her life to keep her happy and healthy.
FOOD
Kenzie is a simple eater, not too fussed what she is fed. She is currently eating a premium puppy kibble/dry food 2 times a day, with Prime roll mixed in for the evening meal. She loves her food, which is great for a puppy of her size needing lots of energy and good food as she continues to grow. She does eat a lot as she is a medium sized girl who will most likely get bigger. She has also been given Kong toys smothered and filled with peanut butter, carrot and her kibble throughout the day to keep her active and entertained. She loves her treats, and as mentioned earlier, has made a huge difference when it comes to training, as it proves she is food motivated.
HYGIENE MAINTENANCE
Kenzie has had a nice warm bath, which she was initially sceptical of, but after a few minutes she relaxed and relished the warm water cascading over her body and shampoo being massaged into her skin. She loves being massaged! Her brindle-coloured coat is low maintenance and soft to touch.
TRAVEL/CAR
Kenzie needs some encouragement getting in and out of the car (often being lifted), but once in, she doesnât fret, and she is content being there in the car. Moving forward, she will need someone who will be patient and provide the necessary tools to give her the confidence needed to travel.
Kenzie is seeking a home with the following
A home with a secure yard complete with shade and shelter
A home with another dog would be ideal as she loves a friend so we would be seeking a home with a resident Male that is well socialised. loves a play and is gentle with young dogs .
A home where Kenzie is treated a sa part of the family and can be included in all family activities
A home that have an appreciation of young puppies that will guide her and ensure that she matures into a confident and well rounded lady keeping her well socialized and well mannered as she matures
Although not tested with young children we feel Kenzie would be fine with primary school agres kids who are kind and gentle and well dog experienced
