About Turtle
Turtle is a loving, loyal, affectionate, intelligent and active young man!
He is a 2 year old, Staghound x Kelpie pocket rocket who is looking for his forever home where he can relax and be himself.
Turtle is always up for a walk, be it a short walk or a long one. He hasn't ran with a human, but we are sure he would make a great running companion!
His recall off leash is a work in progress, with him improving every day! Turtle loves to run free in open spaces. He will need ongoing positive reinforcement to perfect his on-lead manners.
Turtle knows his name, is very food motivated, and knows how to shake, wait and most of the time, stay, on command. He is a great eater, and loves his veges and sardines and raw eggs as a compliment to his kibble.
He is crate trained and does love to sleep and rest for a lot of the day once he has been out for some exercise or enrichment. Turtle would love ongoing positive reinforcement training to perfect his manners.
Turtle is also often able to amuse himself with his toys and especially loves playing with just a tennis ball and an old pillow or towel by playing hide and seek with the ball.
A family committed to meeting Turtle's physical and mental enrichment needs will help him live his absolute best life.
Turtle eagerly greets his humans on arriving home, however he can also get overly excited with strangers and sometimes his bark can sound a bit intimidating until he relaxes and feels comfortable with the visitor.
Ideally he would suit a family without cats or small children as he has not been exposed to them before, and would be living his best life if he was your sole focus of attention.
Turtle needs a home that is in-tune with dog behavioural cues as he can take some time to warm up to you but once he does, he really will be man's best friend! He is the most loyal and loving young man.
If I sound perfect for you, please complete the short adoption application form in the attached link, please note this is the only way your application will be considered: https://homelesshounds.com.au/adopt/dogs
Medical notes
Turtle is desexed, microchipped and up to date with vaccinations and parasite control.
He is in perfect health. He is currently on fluoxetine 30 mg to assist with calming him.
