About Darby
Darby is an absolute delight. He’s an 5mth old kelpie x.
He’s a smart and quick learner who loves people and will follow you around all day.... no joke all day!! He really would love a person / family of his own.
He loves the car and is eager to hop in any open car door to go on an adventure. and can chase the ball and bring it back for a LONG time.
He is learning basic commands and is excellent with sit especially for food. His recall is about 80% but he does love to learn so with consistent one on one training he will progress with this and other commands. He is going extremely well with toilet training and he sleeps in his crate all night with little to no fuss. He has just learnt to use the dog door and is a great mimic and copies the resident dog in his current foster home with most things.
He is usually not over excitable, but as you can imagine with his breed, he does have a lot of energy and needs exercising regularly. He loves to run and chase and needs further training to be able to socialise with chooks and farm animals. He is not a ‘ratty’ dog, just needs physical activity and mental stimulation but at the same time he is oh so cuddly and loves curling up next to you, in your lap or on your feet. He also tries to snuggle up with his foster family’s resident dog. He is sweet!!
A condition of our adoption agreement is that all dogs adopted from Chally MUST be put through obedience training, if you cannot meet this commitment please do not apply. All our dogs deserve the chance to be the very best they can be, and we will choose homes that will ensure this is the case.

• You have a large secure yard
• Darby will not be alone for more than 4hrs
• You will allow Darby to be part of the family and allow him access to indoors.
• You WILL enrol him in obedience training.
• You WILL provide him with daily exercise AND mental stimulation.
Applications with extensive details on the lifestyle you will offer will be considered. Please include your experience with working breed dogs and the name of the obedience school you will be taking Darby to.

Our adoption process is as follows:
1) Animal is listed on PetRescue
2) Applications are received
3) The application which we feel offers the best-suited home to the pet is contacted for first preference of a meet and greet to see if they 'click' with the animal.
We do not follow a first-in, first-served process and only consider applications completed via our online form.
Due the popularity of some dogs - and the fact that our rescue is run entirely by volunteers - we cannot guarantee that all unsuccessful applicants will be notified, however we will do our best.
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
