About Kaiya
AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION THROUGH BE THE CHANGE ANIMAL SHELTER INC- Kaiya is an 8 year old staffy x jack russel female. Kaiya is being surrendered through absolutely no fault of her own, her and her owner are victims of our housing crisis. Kaiya has a spinal injury from when she was a puppy so she has nerve damage in her hind legs. She is in absolutely no pain with it she just walks with an abnormal gait and one foot is often slower to move than the other. She also cannot sit on command as it takes her a bit to manoeuvre into a comfortable sit. She is house trained and spends her days both inside and out but prefers the indoors. She absolutely loves attention and still loves a play where she will do a zoomie run and happy bark. Kaiya is great with kids. She is very food motivated she will do anything for a treat which is fantastic for basic training, She walks well on the lead (unless she comes across another dog) and also travels well in the car. Kaiya is dog reactive so if your out on a walk and come across another dog she will bark and pull on her harness, she can be corrected with redirection and food. In all honesty though Kaiya does not need walking as she cannot go far due to her legs anyway she would much prefer to stay at home and avoid the stress of coming across another dog. She is also not good with cats or pocket pets, birds or lizards. Adoption fee $400 she is desexed vaccinated, microchipped and parasite protected
Medical notes
Can only exercise for short periods as Kaiya has some nerve damage in her hind quarters from a previous injury which has resulted in some weakness
