On Hold
About Arlo ~ 3yr Old Maltese (On Trial 05/06/22)
Adorable Arlo is looking for his furever home. He is a 3-year-old Maltese boy who has so many endearing qualities and is an absolute delight to be with.
He connects so naturally with people and plays well with other dogs both small or large due
to his loving, friendly, gentle, and happy nature. He has the most engaging eyes; his little
happy trot makes me giggle and the way he snuggles and cuddles is purely heart melting.
He will follow you to the moon and back till you stop and sit then he loves to be as close to
you as possible whether it is on your lap or pressed up against you on the lounge. If you are
at the computer, he will lay on the floor next to you and have a nap (after a quick cuddle).
Active - Having sound like a lap dog don’t get me wrong he is quite active as well. He looks
forward to his morning walk to start the day off right and is more than happy to go for a
second walk in the afternoon. Don’t be fooled, this little guy can walk a fair distance so a
little quickie around the block just won’t cut it, sorry. If you are active Arlo will be a perfect
walking partner.
Size / coat - He is a fabulous size for anyone, especially children. His fur coat is so soft and
hardly sheds. He loves to be brushed and pampered and will lay there soaking up all the
attention for as long as you can give him. He will need a professional groom regularly to
keep him looking so handsome.
Commands & behaviour - Arlo can sit, which he turns into a lay down and roll over for a
tummy rub. He comes happily when called and a whistle or click of the fingers suffices to
follow you. Since being in our foster care he has learnt to use stairs, use a doggy door which
allows him to come and go as he pleases and aid in toilet training. He loves running around a
grassy back yard and playing with the other two dogs in the sunshine – living a good dog’s
life! He is good with vacuums, mowers and everyday living noises, but prefers constant
company if left alone for too long outdoors he will howl !!
House trained - He is newly house trained and is still learning, so you will need to be patient
with him.
Sleep - His sleeping quarters are currently on the bed with us, or he jumps down and has a
lay on the floor if he gets hot. He politely waits till we are awake then he comes up for more
morning snuggles.
Food - Arlo is not a fussy eater, so feeding him is easy. He likes a mix throughout the week.
He doesn’t mind a treat but could take it or leave it. Pig’s ears seem to be his favourite.
Yard - Because he is so sociable if he sees another dog he will dig deep to get to the next
door for a play. He MUST have super secure fencing at ground level and deeper.
Arlo’s ideal furever home, will have active family members willing to walk him twice a day.
The house will have a doggy door and very secure fencing. He will be allowed to sleep inside
and there will be room in the budget for regular grooming. His family members will be home
more often than not, be committed to his toilet training and be looking for a loving
companion.
