Tom

Poor Tom was looking worse for wear when he arrived at SCAR. Brought in by a good Samaritan after they found him collapsed on their porch, Tom was suffering. His eyes were infected, his vision was impaired, his teeth were rotten, and he was extremely dehydrated and emaciated from cat flu.

Tom received acute care in our vet clinic for a week while our team ensured he was comfortable and pain-free. Desperate to meet the cat underneath all the pain and suffering, we wondered what he would be like after all he'd been through. Having now doubled his weight and fully recovered, this tough cookie has blossomed into one of the most loving little dudes! The only sign of Tom's past is some scarring in his eye, but this does not require any more treatment, and this beautiful boy can still see very well!

Once frightened and shut down, Tom is now the puppy dog of his foster home, following his foster carer around and rubbing against her legs for affection. We honestly cannot get over how loving this little guy is! His journey to recovery required several return check-ups with our vet team, and this brave, beautiful soul showed no sign of fear! He is now a favourite in our vet clinic for his unwavering purrs and affection!

Being an older gentleman who's been through a lot, you would think that Tom would be content to find a snuggly spot to cuddle down and rest. Instead, this little cutie loves to run and play and is super friendly with other cats, dogs and even grooms his furry toy collection!

Tom loves to be around you, trying to interact with whatever you're doing. If he can't help you wash the dishes or sweep the leaves, you'll find him balancing on your shoulders to keep you company. Tom is a loveable goofball who loves hanging limply over your shoulders like a scarf!
