About Bailey
Bailey (M / 1yr 9mths) – Available for Adoption
Current Location: NSW / Central Coast
You are probably already watching the videos on Doggy Daycare Farm Trips about our Bailey boy - he is now ready for his forever home!
Here is what Luke and Sam have to say about Bailey:
Bailey the Boxer is a truly wonderful dog. He is, like many Boxers are, both so very sweet and very strong in character.
His sweetness has him tolerant of hoards of puppies crawling all over him and hanging from his jowls. He allows them to do most anything and will gently return the play.
He is great around children and gives gentle licks of appreciation.
Whilst Bailey would be a wonderful family dog, no question, he is very much a strong dog that craves strong leadership. We’re not just advising this, Bailey is asking for it.
You see, he loves hanging out with the family but he really only has eyes for the leader. Many people will say dogs love leadership and we couldn’t agree more, but Bailey is another level. It’s not like other humans completely don’t exist to him, but the respect he has for leadership is much more than the average dog.
And I guess it’s no surprise when you think of his past. A young adolescent 18 month old Boxer full of life who had spent his whole life with an elderly female with no boundaries, zero training, zero socialisation and only walked just one time ever. He came to us described as very dominant, and he sure was.
He cannot go back to that life. No boundaries, no exercise, no leadership. He has had a taste of the other side, and Bailey chooses this life. Loads of exercise, consistent boundaries and strong leadership. He feels happy and relaxed.
Bailey is an incredibly active boy. He has just learnt to swim and he loves it. He would love to continue swimming regularly if possible. He loves toys and fetch.
He came to us with resource guarding, we still see it now and then with his toys but it’s no more than a gruff bark. But he will require continued training and guidance to prevent it reverting.
A wonderful quote passed on to us by one of our training members is:
“There is nothing I can do with your child (insert dog) all day at school that you cannot undo at home by doing nothing at all.”
Bailey will need an owner that puts the time in to continuing his training by consistently implementing rules and boundaries into their everyday.
We want the best for Bailey, he really deserves it. He has worked extremely hard to work on the issues that were not his fault, but simply a product of his poor start in life.
Perhaps it sounds like we’re asking a lot. Doesn’t simply having a loving home and safe environment suffice? For Bailey it’s only the half of it.
And Bailey is in no rush to find the perfect home, he’s having a full life while he waits for it to find him. He’s knows when it comes along it will be something incredibly special and well worth the wait.
If you are Bailey’s person, you will be a very lucky human. He will be glued to you like no one else needs to exist in the world. No delicious treat will win his love away from you. He will be your running buddy, your camping buddy, your adventure buddy and your end of the day exhausted couch buddy. He will be your best mate and nothing else in life will matter.
