About Cleo
APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN FOR CLEO
Cleo is a beautiful female Husky, approx 5 years old. Cleo has a beautiful friendly nature, she is great with other dogs but not cats. She love people of all ages and would make a wonderful family pet. Cleo has problems with her back legs.
This is what the vet has written:
Cleo presented with bilateral luxating patellas in her hind legs (dislocating kneecaps). The left hind knee was much more severe than the right, with the kneecap always sitting outside of the groove in the femur that it should be in. Surgery to correct this was carried out on the 24th January 2022. She also has arthritis in her hips, making her unable to carry out prolonged activity. Her hind leg conformation especially int he left hing leg was found to be straight-hocked and therefore of abnormal conformation, making her bear weight differently to her normal leg.
Recent follow up has shown changes in the left knee consistent with luxating patella, including medial buttressing where the inside aspect of the end of the femur were the patealla sits becomes enlarged in response to the Kneecap being pulled to an abnormal position. While the kneecap is more stable than before, its still slips in and out of the groove it should be in.

Our adoption process is easy. You will receive a application for the animals you are interested in. Please full that in and send it back to us.
Even though you may be first to message, this does not always guarantee you will be chosen to adopt. By no means do we run on a "first in, first served basis". We aim to ensure that our animals are adopted into the most suitable home for them and the new family.
With all our animals, we go on what our vet has told us and what we believe the breed and age to be. We never guarantee the breed or age but take the best educated guess.
Please note: Our shelter is located in the Snowy Mountains. We are a 5 hour drive from Sydney and Melbourne and 2 to 3 hours from Canberra.
