About Neddie
Neddie is a good-natured kelpie boy with plenty of get up and go! He puts his heart into everything he sets his mind to. From heading out for a walk or playing with his mates, he is an enthusiastic larrikin.
Neddie has learnt to sit and wait until released for his dinner. He comes to a whistle and his name (most of the time!) and is learning to walk on the lead. He is a good running partner. He does need reminding to focus when the wonders of the world and passing movement take his attention, however, deep down wanting to please his humans, Neddie will excel with training and time invested in him.
Neddie gets along with his kelpie foster siblings. Zooming as fast as he can around the paddocks with his foster brother. He loves his toys and will run in circles around the house yard flipping his prize proudly! Happy to play his own game, and being a bit cheeky, he will play “keepings off” and has not learnt to bring his toys back for a game of fetch yet!!
Neddie’s commitment to life is hard to match, so he will do best with an owner who reminds him to focus and sometimes to stop when his eagerness takes over.
Neddie can’t wait to follow his foster siblings inside to sleep on his mat in the evenings. He has learnt to be patient and sit and wait just inside the entrance until ushered through the house by his human. Settling on his bed, he sleeps quietly in his spot until the sun rises in the morning and it’s time for another adventurous day!
Like many of us, Neddie is calmer without too much hustle and bustle around him. He is very friendly and likes other dogs, but the odd play date would suit him better than off lead dog parks. On lead walks in the forest and teaching Neddie things to keep his keen mind engaged would bring the best out of this plucky little fellow.
Neddie would be content as an only dog, with a human by his side that can offer companionship and a commitment to training. A curious friendly boy that is has a good heart, Neddie is just a little too interested in the other animals around the farm at present to free range with them and can become distracted by kangaroos or wildlife on the move.
Neddie is fostered on acreage with a house yard, which he does not wander from when left home. Out in the paddocks he happily stays around to help with the chores however does need supervision to ensure something doesn’t take his attention and lead him away.
Neddie is good-natured and is learning to settle down happily when you’re in the workshop or it’s time to have a snooze in the sunroom. Neddie would suit an individual or couple, or a perhaps a household with teenagers/young adult children.
Neddie is a great dog with lots of potential. He will do well in a home that has time to spend with him, and if your commitment to Neddie is equal to Neddie’s commitment to life, you will be blessed with a truly magnificent mate.
