Gorgeous Dimples is finally ready to start searching for his forever family. Dimples arrived into our care when he was 6 weeks of age. We teamed up with another local rescue group to take in 3 street mums and their 13 babies combined. The 3 families were bush cats living on a rural property west of Brisbane. They were unsocialised, scared, and very very unwell. They all had cat flu of varying severity, and all of the babies were suffering from Neonatal Opthalmia. Neonatal Opthalmia is a bacterial infection that develops inside the closed eye sockets of neonatal kittens and puppies (before their eyes open). Infected discharge (pus) builds up in the socket but doesn't have an exit point, so it instead starts to cause serious damage to the globe inside. Their case was bad due to being left untreated, and the dirty living conditions of the litters.
Dimples suffered severe eye trauma as a kitten and required one of his eyes to be removed when he was a small kitten. His remaining eye was treated intensively with medications to try and regain as much vision as possible. Dimples is a sweet and gentle little guy who is looking for a settled home. He is looking for a home with older or no children, he is more suited to a quieter home to bond closely with his human/s. Dimples has limited sight in his remaining eye due to permanent scarring, he can tell the difference between light and day and has a small amount of vision of objects. Dimples is looking for a home who can make sure he feels safe and settled, and where he can have lots of one on one attention.
Please get in touch if you would like to arrange a meet and greet with little Dimples. 🐾
Adoption details
If you would like to know more information about any of our rescue animals, our rescue group, or to arrange a meet and greet, please email us. Please provide us with your name, email address, contact number, and some information about yourself, and the home you have to offer one of our rescue animals.
About us:
Gary and the Handicats Rescue is run soley by a Vet Nurse who works shift work and also cares for sick and high needs rescue animals. We strive to get back to you within 24 hours, but during busy kitten seasons there may be a delay. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Please note we do not run on a "first in first served" basis. We screen applicants well before proceeding with adoption. Vet and rental references may be required for certain special needs adoptions.
We receive a large amount of interest in our handraised kittens, and certain special needs animals. Please understand that if you're application isn't successful, this may just be due to the amount of applications we have had for that particular animal, and not because of the home you have to offer. Preference is always given to our past adopters.
Meet and Greets:
• Meet and greets are held in an environment where the particular cat or kitten feels most comfortable.
• Please do not bring your own animals to a meet and greet.
• We do not allow any of our animals to be taken home on the day of the meet and greet. Special circumstances may be considered.
Picking up you're new family member:
• You MUST bring a safe, secure, and size appropriate carrier for your baby to travel home in. We do not have carriers to provide new adopters, and we will not send home one of our rescue animals in a cardboard box or a washing basket. If a carrier isn't able to be provided, your adoption will be cancelled.
