About Purdie
We can’t believe Purdie is adoption ready! It has been such a long haul for this girl. Found in a car park in para hills by a family member of the Lost Pets of SA team. Lucky Purdie! Read her story from her wonderful committed foster carer below 🤗
“Purdie’s claim to fame is her purring!! Just look at her and she will purrrrrrrrr!!”
Purdie was found in a carpark, very dirty, very skinny, very hungry and just begging for help. Little did we know that this young lady was a very sick girl. She was initially diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection. Purdie didn’t respond to treatment. In fact she just got sicker. Purdie crashed badly and had to be hospitalised . X-rays were done of her chest. Her lungs were amongst the worst our vets had seen. This was just the beginning of her journey. Eventually Purdie was diagnosed with a severe lungworm infestation . She didn’t respond to treatment for this either. After many tests, ultrasounds blood tests and medication, Purdie finally started to improve. It’s been a long expensive road to recovery, but this little miss is now ready for her furever home
.
Her foster mum doesn’t think she has
lived in a home before but after a few weeks of free range she has taken to it like a fish to water. She is friendly and just loves being loved, in fact she pushes into your hand begging for more. She does startle and retreats to her safe room, so would take some settling in, but in her foster home she now jumps on the couch for cuddles with the family and can be picked up. Purdie loves her toys. It has taken 3 months for her to have the energy to start playing.
PURDIE IS FIV POSITIVE. This simply means she has a compromised immune system. It means she needs to be vaccinated on time every year, strictly indoors and be fed a quality diet. FIV positive cats live long lives.
Her foster sibling is a grumpy old cat that swipes at her when she is near but Purdie just runs away, her other foster sibling hisses at her and once again Purdie just walks away. She doesn’t seem to have a mean bone in her body. Another friendly cat in the family would help Purdie learn the do’s and don’ts of being an inside cat."
Purdie is desexed, vaccinated and microchipped.
Adoption fee $120
Located in a foster home in Gulfview Heights.
Purdie is still regaining lung function. It can take some time ( months and months) for her to reach full recovery. As a result Purdie will be best suited to a quieter home with maybe a cat or two and/or a gentle dog. It’s important Purdie isn’t chased or pushed beyond her limits. For this reason perhaps a home with no small children would be best.
INDOOR ONLY HOME .
