About Dusty
Hello everybody, I am Dusty and it’s a pleasure to meet you.
I am finally looking for a permanent home after relaxing and learning lots in foster care. I know I am a handsome man, but don’t let my looks fool you, I have some terms and conditions for my adoption.
When I first came into care I was very very confused about who was my friend and who was trying to hurt or scare me. It was quite challenging in the beginning, I did not like to be touched or approached at all, but I feel pretty good about most people as long as I am not approached too forcefully or with too much energy. On first meeting I can be quite vocal and can get myself into a bit of a tizzy. But once I settle I am the cuddliest and most affectionate gentleman.
This also varies on where I am. I am comfortable at home so everyone is welcome to give me love, but outside my comfort zone I can be quite defensive.
I do get along with my foster brothers who have learnt to let me be, however I would prefer a home where I can be the centre of attention as I do demand a lot of love (which I rightfully deserve).
I would like to be in a household without children as their energy does feel threatening and causes a lot of stress. Although I have come leaps and bounds sometimes when I’m so stressed and feel like I’m not being listened to my only response is to bite.
Because of this response I require a family who understands dog body language, as I do give ample warning if I’m stressed or uncomfortable and then will learn to trust that my family will help me navigate the situation, instead of get angry at me for it. It’s not my fault I’m scared, I’m still learning to overcome it.
I know I sound scary and challenging, but I am a sweet little man just looking for love. I hope someone will give me the chance to come out of my shell and learn to trust and adore each other. If you think you have the space and time to help and love me then please apply below.
- No kids under 10
- No other animals
- Minimal foot traffic through the house
- Will be treated like a king
- Ability to read and understand dog behaviour
- Willing to have multiple meet and greets to make sure we have a good bond and understanding of each other before moving house
Medical notes
Medical notes for Dusty
5 year old Dusty has recently had a dental clean, is desexed and microchipped. He is up to date with C5 vaccination, as well as flea, tick, heart worm and intestinal worm prevention.
He is in good physical health overall, however he can get very stressed when visiting the vet so he does take a Trazadone tablet before hand which helps calm him down.
