About Billy
Billy is a beautiful, easy going and friendly dog who’s foster fam says makes them feel so loved with his genuine affection- leaning in for big cuddles, relishing a good belly rub and showering them in joyful morning greetings.
Billy has met lots of dogs and he’s curious and friendly towards them, keen to meet everyone big and small! While he lives as an only dog now, maybe he would enjoy a doggo friend for company if you have another medium-large breed. He doesn’t need a lot of attention during the day but he likes to know you’re around, so work from home or part time workers would suit him best. He likes a couple of walks a day and has plenty of energy for adventures, and he would enjoy a bit of backyard space to snuffle and snort about in, he’ll wander out there to enjoy the sun on his shiny velvet body. He happily ends the day flopping down to enjoy some tv and draping himself all over you for snuggles.
Billy can be a bit exuberant when you’ve been out and you return, so older children are best just in case he forgets his size and bundles them over in his rush to smother them with love, but it all comes from a good place! This is a dog with a big heart and he’s never met a human he doesn’t like- taking only moments to trust you, and request a big double handed rub down!
This guy is dreaming of his life as your new best mate and all the affection he’s preparing for you. Are you the one?!
Summary:
- Requires home where people are home more often than not (WFH or part time workers)
- NOT small dog or cat friendly
- NOT suitable for homes with children under 12 years of age
Adoption details
STEP 1 – ENQUIRE & EOI FORM:
https://greytgreys.org/adoption-form/
If the greyhound you have applied for is unavailable or unsuitable, we can match you with a more suitable greyhound. We may have a hound in foster care who might be well suited to your family.
STEP 2 – LET'S CHAT:
We'll phone you to discuss suitability, clarify any points of your application and chat process and next steps.
STEP 3 – HOUSE CHECK & MEET + GREET:
We'll come to you! The meet + greet is conducted at the same time that a house check is carried out. The meet + greet is the day that your newly adopted greyhound will be able to stay on with you.
Our adoption fee is $350.00 and must be paid on on the day of the meet + greet, and prior to starting your 3 week trial. Support from our team is freely available. If you have any issues, we urge you to contact us to try and work through them, as all rescue greyhounds have some period of adjustment.
If after the 3 week trial, you feel that you need to return the greyhound, we will refund your adoption fee (less a $50 administration fee), upon return of the dog and all paperwork and other items that the dog was adopted with.
All of our hounds are adopted out with the following:
> Collar, lead & coat
> Certificate of sterilisation & vaccination
> Flea & worm treated
> Care information for your newly adopted greyhound
> Access to our private Facebook page for foster carers, volunteers and adopters of our hounds. A community with invaluable advice and support.
