Humphrey Bear

Humphrey Bear is a big loveable guy, a cuddler a smooch, however he is in need of an experienced owner. Someone who understands that because this boy wasn’t trained at an early age he is psychologically immature. He can be challenging but he can be gorgeous. He likes to sit with you, lay at your feet or climb on your knee.

When I met HB he couldn’t even sit his butt on the ground for a second. Now he sits and leaves his food until I tell him to eat. I can now take steps away from him and his food then tell him to eat.

When we met Humphrey Bear believed humans were toys. He’s decided we are to be listened to and he loves everyone.

He does not bite BUT he is known to grab clothing and tug, he can even grab that hand that is removing something he desires; hard mouthing. He’s been in a position where he has won every time; not anymore. He stole my hairbrush yesterday, which he found quite amusing….a nice strong “leave” made him drop it. We use distraction to get him to behave the way we want.

With other dogs he pounced on them, he thinks it’s play but it’s too much for other dogs. He will need ongoing training and socialisation classes

Walking on a harness is the best way to control this boy. It’ll take a few treats and some trust to get the harness on. He’d prefer to grab it and run around with it on

We have a cat in a cage, he’s never been interested in upsetting her. He gives her a sniff and walks on

Humphrey Bear loves food he eats six cups of food divided into a morning and evening feed each day, plus treats; which he loves.

This is a dog for someone determined to mould him into the great dog I know he has the potential to be.
