**Max and Abbey will be checking out their new home soon.
Max and Abbey Whisteldown are beautiful friends looking for a new family to share their world with. Max is an old soul, a gentle and relaxed boy. He loves some attention, a little belly rub and snuggle but he isn’t a needy dog and is also quite content in his own space. He doesn’t play much but loves a walk and travels well in the car.
Max gets along well with Abbey, but isn’t too keen on other dogs. He walks well on lead, although if he sees another dog he will whine and bark. We are currently working on this. He is usually obedient and will sit and come when called. This clever boy likes to shake paws with you and he begs, especially if you have some treats handy. It took Max a little time to adjust to living with his foster carer, but he is now very comfortable and has made himself right at home. Max doesn’t like loud noises. If somebody accidentally drops something or the vacuum is turned on he gets startled and runs away.
Abbey is a gentle and lovable girl. She is happy, loves her people and loves to share doggie kisses. If she sees a new person she will wag her tail in anticipation of some pats or a good belly rub. Abbey loves water, the fish pond or her little pool (supervised of course). She walks beautifully on lead, but is a bit reactive when it comes to other dogs. Abbey doesn’t really like other dogs and seems to have a dislike for little white fluffy dogs. Abby isn’t always obedient. If there are treats this certainly helps but most of the time she is happy to shake hands rather than sit or stay. Both dogs are house trained. Currently they are untested with cats.
All Abbey and Max want is to find a home where they can continue life's journey together, where they have human company for most of the day and they are the only pets. More importantly their hearts are full of love that they just want to share with you.
Does this adorable duo look like the perfect addition to your family?
Please note: our dogs are not available for interstate adoption. We also do not adopt to people under the age of 25 years.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed, and flea treated. All necessary vetwork such as dentals, surgery, eye treatment are also carried out. We are no longer heartworm testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.

Please note that we do not take/make telephone calls prior to receiving an application.
Commonly asked questions and their answers are provided when you email us. We look forward to receiving your application.
